Why do they refuse to make a proper small hot hatch to rival the Civic `Type-R`/Clio 182?

If they shoved the 2.0 Turbo unit they use in the new Golf GTI, sorted out the styling a bit to make it look sporty, and priced it in the £`15-16k` bracket, they'd have a real contender.

140bhp in a car that size is gonna be slower than the Lupo sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />. The only real hot hatch they've brought out recently is the Golf R32, and that cost £25k!

because VW is the premium brand, Seat the sporty brand, Skoda the budget brand and Audi the top of the class brand.... lambo's are the super car division and bentley the luxury bit.

see its all mapped out! they cant make any vw's too sporty

But they don't follow that. Seat doesn't make a particularly sporty Ibiza yet (some are coming, but even they are hardly groundbreaking), and the Golf R32 is (was) a far more capable and sporty car than than the 2WD Leon Cupra R.
