internet forum law proposals

in korea a new law is coming out where anyone posting on an internet forum must 1st register with proven identification and social security number/ address details. this is to stop the messages that would in face to face situations be counted as abuse or scandalous. so legal action can be taken against the forum poster if they make wrongful/hurtful comments.

there is talk of this kind of law being used generally worldwide.

i support privacy in general on the internet, but in this specific forum area i think laws do need to be introduced.

at the moment our law can allow us to command an ISP to close the website/forum that the abusive messaging occurs, but there is no real facility for pursuing court action against the individual that makes it.

If I had address details of people on this forum, there are thee individuals who would be on the receiving end of my double barrel Winchester.

winchester, nice. thats my favourite gaming weapon.

as for the address details, it would be for the court to know once a case is prepared, not for public domain use.

seriously, why?

it's the internet, get over it.

if somebody says something that i don't like on the internet then i press the back button and get on with my life. some people (like you) need to stop being so sensitive.

laws are there to protect those that are effected, sensitive or otherwise.

you sir are a muppet.

why the hell would you want to live in a nanny state designed to protect you from yourself?

we are already on the way to that kinda place now.

you dont need to direct at me, i am reporting the news to discuss.

i could say if you cant be polite get off the forums..

But why?

Why should forums be polite? They are meant to spark debate, and through debate comes ridiculing, belittleing and other things

see here's the beauty of it all, you have been banned from here, so you are the one that shouldn't be on the forum, so your opinion counts for nothing.

have a nice day.

you need to think clearly about it adam.

say if someone goes to their favourite pub regularly, but one day one another pub goer decides to kick up a fuss a bottle them in the face, and then each time they go back they get bottled again. this person shouldnt say oh well i get bottled in my favourite pub i'll just not go out or find another pub. they should go to the police and get the abusive person charged and removed so he can continue his freedom of where to enjoy his social life. the comparison is the same. and now the korean government has seen this and has rightly made a law to cover it.

The fact that your relating an internet forum to your social life is ridiculously sad, you should be banned for that

i'm serious about this subject, just to let you know.

and some comments about me i wont accept. admin should be aware of what is said on this forum. as i said the ISP could shut this site down if complaints were looked into over some members.

the fact is, i haven't bottled you.

you are quite free to remain here and there is an ignore function which you can use, nobody is stopping you.

you have a point about the ignore function, which is useful. but that doesnt prevent or punish the abusers.

the law is to stop hurtful information be it true or false about individuals or companies. once something is said and others have viewed it, even if the sbjuect of the post didnt read it, is still wrong.

Get your ISP to close this forum down then

it would be nice to see some support for clublupo, you are someone that wants to see it go then.

i would like clublupo to be a nice family/individual friendly area.

i have this really good idea.

how about you stop being a sensitive little girl?

there would be no need for shítty nanny state laws if it wasn't for people like you.
