GTI Alternator.........How much??

My alternator has packed in, any one got any ideas how much a replacement costs?

Well best check it is that then................

Basically car started fine this morning, drove about 25 miles, all fine the parked up for about 2 minutes. When I tried to start the car again it was completely dead.

Called out recovery who managed to jumpstart the car, and reccommended taking it for a spin to get it charged up again, which I did.

Then my ABS light and airbag lights came on and the car died, so took the battery off and had it checked, all was fine apart from it was completely dead but would charge and hold a charge (which makes me think its the alternator). The guy who checked the battery put his battery testing gizmo on the battery with the car running and there doesnt seem to be any charge going into it from the alternator...............

Is it as simple as the alternator being knackered or could it be something else??

Probaly the alternator, they arnt the best on the lupo
