FluxCo
on my polo its quite easy, robin over at porka has put in a polo gti knob and gaitor to his and I have got a knob off the beezalike you did, pull up the gaitoryou will see a metal clip on the end of the gear knob, pry that off, and pull knob upin mine, I just pull the knob up without having to undo the clip

Lupo_Loopy
Indeed it is. I took my replacement knob back to Hellfords and got m £££ back. Just not worth the agravation. Plus, if you dont get a gear knob thats the same size at the bootom, your left with a dirty great ring of metal showing. Not the effect I wanted. Clouseau
you just need brute force, if its tight and over glued on the thread then it would need unscrewing with molegrips or something. thats for nobs in general not specificly for lupo nobs.
