Wheel balancing

Recommended Posts

Bought some 2nd hand wheels which came with good 195 50 15 tyres. Fitted them to the car and no problems with steering shake after 56 mph.

Had to change the front 2 tyres as they were catching the arch due to the car being lowered 60mm on coilovers.

Used the 195 45 rear tyres that I had on my Platin's, which still had good tread. Got the local garage to swap the tyres and they have used a load of stick on weights. The new alloys only had a 2 inch weight on the inside rim originally.

Drove the car and now the steering wheel shakes between 56 - 80 mph

Any ideas ??

Took the wheels to another garage to have them rebalanced. It would seem the original garage's equipment cannot cope with dished rims. The new garage uses the old method of hanging a plum line to get the correct weight. Hand them both redone with only a couple of small weights fitted and they run like a dream.
