Cliveski
I'm changing the HT leads on my GTI this Saturday (like for like) and was wandering if anyone has any tips / advice for me before I go and do something wrong!I'm guessing I don't need any tools as they simply push-on and pull-off ?How hard do I need to push when attaching the new ones?Is it worth a squirt of WD40 on the sparkplugs/lead ends? Etc etc . .
tdwindustries
Easy to do - just pull off the old ones and replace with new ones. Doing one at a time avoids any mix up, although they are stamped with letters to help you!I didnt use WD40 as my local VW friends advised against it in modern engines.HOWEVER!!! I have a problem.. My HT leads wont stay on the plugs, keep popping off. Now I am told this could be due to the plugs not having a 'nipple' screwed on to them, but havent had a chance to look.Any advice gratefully received, good luck
lupogtiboy
tim - just looked at the plugs, and they have the cap built onto them, ie not removable, which would make me guess you have non-genuine plugs fitted or the wrong ones! they should be 101 000 033aa.
