coopersim Posted June 7, 2015 Report Share Posted June 7, 2015 Just getting round to resolving the outstanding MOT comments from November, and am wondering what this means, can anyone help:001 Front (both) suspension arm ball joint dust cover deteriorated, but preventing the ingress of dirtCan anyone point me in the direction fo what I need to buy and how difficult a job this is please? stator Posted June 7, 2015 Report Share Posted June 7, 2015 The ball joint has a rubber/plastic cover on it to keep dust out and grease in. If it gets cracked it's only a problem if it lets dirt in. If it's just a hairline fracture you could patch it up from the outside to try and stop it getting worse, some people say use superglue. If you can do the job yourself then change the boot. If the crack is open and letting dirt in you can either change it now or wait until it causes problems. If you have to pay someone else to do it then you might as well just replace the joint and get it sorted properly all in one go. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
