  1. So this car, being 17yo, suffers with everything having been undone, nothing been put back correctly! the bonnet catch had no cable attached, just a piece of chain , which was rubbing against the radiator. So removed mechanism, 3 bolts, and ordered a replacement from a breakers. New ones are £48+ vat. Bugger that. Stevens £14.99 inc delivery. Yep it was filthy & clogged up with manky grease & bent. Cleaned in petrol (love the aroma!), used a screw driver blade to mimic bonnet & pushed down to lock. Pulled lever where cable would go & nothing!! it wasn’t moving to the right far enough. In the vice, bashed with a hammer & mole grips. All good. Works. Added some copper grease and refitted. Just waiting for a replacement cable. Pics below & some from my online manual, that cost me a tenner.
  2. Hello. In December I installed a complete Sachs clutch. Because everything is beautiful, the clutch pedal went softly. Unfortunately, recently as the engine heats up when you press the clutch you can hear creaking. This is quite annoying. Is the clutch damaged? The wife also drives the car and maybe sometimes she burned the clutch ... Is the clutch cable to be replaced, for example? Or maybe somewhere you can lubricate it? Please forgive for my English :)
  3. Hi, I want to apologise if this was covered already but I don't have an idea what I am searching for so it's easy for me to ask you. Got my new Lupo a few days ago. It's 1.0 engine and so far is been spot on. However, I just start cleaning the engine bay today and spotted something missing. I can't remember what should be there from my 1.4 I just sold a few days ago. It will be really great if anyone can help or point to the relevant post on here or any useful information. Thanks
  4. Hi, The clutch cable snapped on my lupo, AA man came and fitted a temporary clutch cable that I've done about 250 miles since early last week. I've got a clutch cable but was wondering how hard it would be to replace. The AA guy told me roughly how to change it but I was wondering if you could confirm it before I end up getting stuck without a working clutch cable? I've never worked on cars before, only motorcycles so I'm hoping it's not too different. -Take engine cover off. -Remove lower dash. -Remove cable from pedal and clutch arm. -Install new cable (making sure to route it the same). -Adjust cable. Thanks guys.
