  1. Its on the front of the g'box, as in facing the radiator. 2 pin, one cable is blue and the other is black and red. Ill get a pic tomorrow when its light if you want. Give me a shout if you need a hand buddy
  2. The engine will drop straight in, the mounts are the same, both gearboxes will fit however the sport gearbox has shorter ratios. The injection and ignition systems will have to be taken from the sport ie engine bay wiring loom, inlet manifold and tb, ecu etc, and you could either swap the immobilizer and clocks from the sport into the 's' or you could find someone with a fully licenced vag com to adapt the 's' immobilizer to work with the sport ecu. Hope this helps, Mark
  3. If its coming up as an emmisions fault, the ecu could well be running in limp mode, which causes the car to run sluggish. What was the exact fault?
  4. Same here, guess so
  5. Yeah i only noticed mine after it happened though, had a makeshift oil catch tank which was full of mayo, and oil was splattered all over the back of my engine bay, still dont know where it came from, but before that day, the catch tank had hardly anything in it, dunno if its connected like but just a heads up!
  6. Exactly what happened to mine when it seized mate, wouldnt drive it till its checked out
  7. Once the airbag has been removed and replaced, the airbag light will still show,as the fault remains in the system. You will need to either find someone with vag com ( if your anywhere near central scotland i can help) or take it to your dealer to clear the fault code, shouldn't be too expensive
  8. Take the airbox off and see if its connected to the pedal by a cable or not, itll be pretty obvious when you have a look. If your after a cable throttle body, you might be better looking on club polo, there are quite a lot of cable throttle bodies off of the AFH's for sale there. If its dbw youd best be looking at a post 99 lupo sport, or gti

Yo, the drivers side engine mount can be taken straight out of the polo, or you can use the rubber mounting bit from the lupo, theyre the exact same. Im running the lupo injection system with the polo loom and ecu, most of it plug straight in, but a bit of splicing is required for headlights and a few other things. Inlet manifold and throttle body and everything all fit on, gearbox fits on, no need to change any mounts on that. the exhaust manifold from the lupo fits on the afh, but the headers on the lupo are smaller, so you'd be better with either an aftermarket one or just the standard afh one, there are a few going on ebay just now. Hopefully that helps, i cant get pictures just now as im at uni, but im back home in a couple of weeks after my exams have finished so ill get some then. Feel free to ask any more questions and il do my best to help

    CBR600 carbs

Have a look on club polo, there are quite a few people on there that have gone down the bike carb route

awesome, will get one and give it a shot when im back. Yeah running factory everything just now, saving up for some sort of aftermarket management, my dad has emerald in his kitcar seems quite good. Managed to get the aftermarket rev counter working off the coil cheers, just need to find the wire that the factory tacho takes a reading from if you get me? Cheers again

Got a sender and mounted the guage but never had enough time to wire it up, my oil pressure warning lamp kept on flashing anyway, not sure if its something to do with the lupo interior loom not being the exact same as the polo interior (probably why my rev guage isnt working as well) so ive just put the sender straight in where the pressure switch was before. will probs get a t peice at some point just to be safe though. Also the buzzer on my clocks doesnt work anymore (for leaving lights on and oil pressure) any ideas? Yeah might take that dizzy off you after i'm finished at uni in 3 or 4 weeks, car is SORN'd just now anyway so in no rush. If you still have the R1 tb's in a few weeks after that when i have a job again ill take them off you too;) Sounds like a new manifold is on the cards then, it definetly feels like the engine wants to pull more in the higher revs, but just doesnt. Cheers for your help
  13. Yeah that was me seen you too. Was still running my engine in so was too scared to take it for a blast up the strip haha. You bet quite a few 'faster' cars like!
  14. I can back up that daviegti was pulling away from type r's and that mk6 gti with the black bonnet, was watching from the side of the strip on sunday. My lupo sports best time at crail was 16.177 and that was with stripped interior, custom induction kit and cat back exhaust. But my engine seized shortly after that haha...
  15. Do you have the complete rear engine mount/torque bar/gear linkage support (not sure exactly what its called!) If you need a pic give me a shout cheers

Just a wee update, car is back on the road now, done 500 miles and the only problems i've had is blowing up a coil pack whilst wiring up an aftermarket rev guage (Standard one isn't working, need to figure out where the wire that used to go to the crankshaft sensor is) and the oil pressure warning light is flashing, even after fitting a new pressure switch, any ideas? Sorted all the idling problems out, and engine is very responsive compared to the afk, feels better in the lower revs too. Took the old engine into a scrap metal place and got £50 quid for the head and block which i thought was not bad, i still have the cams and rocker cover as they seem to be in good condition. Will try and get some videos of it running, however my tax and mot expire on friday, and i still have a few things to sort out. Planning on getting an oil pressure guage so that the same thing doesnt happen again! any ideas on how to wire one up? Cheers, Mark
  17. I would imagine it would depend on whether you'd want to run a distributor or electronic ignition. Not sure if the fueling would be suffice though.
  18. Figured it out mate, turns out that me being the idiot i am forgot to put the release bearing on haha. Cheers anyway
  19. For my AFH conversion i kept my standard keys, ignition barrel, clocks, immobilizer and interior loom and just swapped the engine loom and ecu, then used vag-com to adapt the new ecu to work with my clocks and immobilizer etc, and it works flawlessly. If you can get hold of someone with a fully registered vag-com its just a 2 minute job and can save you a lot of time and money
  20. Basically swapped my gearbox from my afk onto my afh, and the clutch is permanently on, even if i push the pedal all the way down. There is hardly any resistance from the pedal either. When i do push the pedal in when the engine is running, there is a horrible grinding noise. Anyone got any clues as to what i could have done wrong? had the gearbox off again yesterday and put everything back together, and don't fancy doing it again until i know what needs done. Thanks for your time, Mark

    AFH Conversion

Managed to put a temporary oil pressure switch from my old engine on, however its not quite the same so i have ordered the proper one. The engine starts first time everytime, but the idling is all over the place, even after playing about with the dizzy. I believe that this is probably to do with the engine speed sensor not plugged in(i have no idea where it is), and possibly the dizzy could be bad ( if you look in it while the engine is running, sparks fly all over inside it.) I have included a video link, as this is my first ever conversion and i am by no means a mechanic, so hopefully it will help more knowledgeable people on here to help me out?! any help is seriously appreciated. Cheers , Mark

Well after many hours of trying to work out how to use vag com, and trying to get the ht leads in the right order, i finally managed to get some life out of the engine, only for me to forget to put a bloody oil pressure switch in, so now my nice clean bay is covered in fresh oil! Hopefully will get it sorted tomorrow after work, and will get some videos, sounds mean with just the manifold and cat on! Now just need to get my gear linkage on (any tips?) and put new brake fluid in and get insurance, then i can run it in
  23. As some of you may know i'm putting an AFH is my lupo. (Polo Engine bay loom, lupo interior loom) I managed to get the headlights and all the electrics working fine except the window wipers and fuel pump. Everything was working fine for a good few days, then it clicked that i probably put the relays in the wrong way round. swapped them and everything seemed to work. Bingo. Went straight to vag com (fully registered)to recode my ecu, and think i may have made a mistake. Now when i turn my ignition on, my full beam light and hazard light indicators on the dash come on (but the headlights themselves dont come on) When i turn my window wipers on, the fuel pump goes on sometimes, and the rev counter goes up and down. Also the abs light sometimes flashes when i flash my full beam, and now the headlights dont come on at all even if i do turn them on at the switch. I am completely lost and never heard of anything like this before. If anyone has any advice, i would much apprecate it! Cheers, Mark
  24. I think you'll struggle to get through an MOT on carbs? Don't quote me on that though

Not yet mate, finally got the ignition on today, and everything was working, which was a big relief. Just waiting on a mount from saf and spark plugs and it should be good to go. The lupo interior loom plugs straight into the afh engine loom, however the wires need to be spliced to fit to the headlights and side repeaters, which hopefully won't be too big a job. Will let you know how i get on
