  1. Hi, I've only just joined and I have a mk1 golf cabriolet too, but I'm selling mine! lol I have found members from cluplupo to be really friendly and helpful. Just need to find myself a 1.4s now and I'll be a very happy dub-diva! lol
  2. Wow. Sounds like you had an extremely lucky escape... glad to hear you're getting better
  3. I wrote off my husband's rather lush BMW 323i se last September on the A1, only about 20 miles away from home. I had our 3 children in the car with me. I had overtaken a car and had a motorbike appear out of nowhere behind me (he was obviously speeding), the car that I was overtaking was near my passenger side rear end... then I saw some rubble in the road and although I swerved to avoid it, I still hit some - the car just seemed to lift and I slammed sideways into the central reservation at about 50mph... Someone must have been watching over us that day, as the car just bounced off and I managed to pull over at the side of the road - however, the other drivers around me didn't stop - even to check that we were ok (which really did upset me as they had seen the accident). I have been told by several people that I was exceedingly lucky the car didn't roll, and that we would have been seriously injured as a result if it had. My teenage daughter (who was in the front passenger seat) still jumps when I go to overtake a car and the central reservation is near us... the only physical damage to us was me (I bruised a couple of ribs where the arm rest was pushed in by the impact on the door). There was so much damage it was an instant write-off - every driver's side panel from the front indicator through to the back indicator, bumpers, doors, the suspension was ripped apart on the driver's side and even the INSIDE of the engine bay was damaged. The photo's don't look too bad, it was much worse "in the flesh". Looking at the close-up photo's you can actually see the indents of the bolts that hold the barrier metal together. The moral of the story.... don't tailgate other drivers! I wasn't tailgating anyone, but I've learned from my experience and leave more room now - after all, if there hadn't been a bike right in my boot, I could have braked and avoided the whole accident... I drove past the spot the other week and felt physically sick at what could have happened.
  4. How about: My other car is a porsche but today I'm in a hurry!

    PVW

My husband went to get PVW yesterday for me and I have to say... that feature rocks!
  6. My budget is quite limited, I have around £2,500 to spend, so that's going to get me a "W" reg or older, I think a GTi is kinda out of my price range it's a pity as I really like the GTi version. I haven't seen the 1.4 TDi version for sale, I can only find 1.4s - maybe I'm not looking hard enough lol What road tax does the 1.4s 16v have, could someone let me know? p.s. A couple came all the way from Germany to look at the splitty on Sunday - within 10 minutes she was sold. So she's going back home to Germany in the next week or so.
  7. Hi everyone Thought I'd better introduce myself. I live just outside St Neots in Cambridgeshire with my husband and our 3 children - luckily they share the same passion for vw's as me and my husband do Having sold our 1959 rat-ride beetle (my old daily) and our 1964 Splitscreen Van (my Husband's daily), we thought it's about time to drag ourselves into this century and get a couple of newer cars. My husband is buying a v5 sport new beetle and at the moment I drive a Mk1 Golf 1.8 GTi Cabriolet as my daily, but I fell in love with Lupo's and will be buying one in the next couple of weeks so the GTi must go! I have asked the question about which engine would be better, a 1.4s 16v or a 1.7 SDi, and after taking advice, I'm still not totally sure which one to choose but as I have a GTi at the moment, I am wanting something with a bit of "poke" so that rules out the 1litre version, but something that is nippy around town and that is more economical to run than my golf! Whatever engine I go for, I would love a black Lupo as first choice, but bright green and yellow look great too. There's just too many colours to choose from lol
  8. Hi there everyone, I am currently searching for a Lupo as I fell in love with them whilst looking for another vw at the moment, I drive a Mk1 Golf 1.8 GTi Cabriolet, but it is rapidly becoming a bit of a money pit so it's time for a change.... and a bit more of an economical ride I am torn between the petrol 1.4 16v and the diesel 1.7 - any advice on which would be more nippy, economical, etc ? My budget is up to £2,500 so this seems to be "W" reg and older. Are there any "dodgy" bits that I should be checking for when buying a Lupo? Your help would be very much appreciated
