  1. I'm only down around 60mm now, so it isn't stupidly low, just nicely low. Got a full set of new Michellin Pilot Exalto 2's. I just don;t think it's the car for me...!
  2. MY Clio was lowered 60mm on some springs, and without a doubt is beter than the Gti. Jordan I appreciate your response, I see what you mean. It's only recently I have thought about getting on track, and the lupo came up and I like it so I went for it, then I've decided it's not the car for me. Adam, pm me if you want anymore info on the car. It's done 47k FVWSH - EVERYTHING has been done at VW from new. LEather with heated front seats Aircon Upgrade stereo 4 brand new Michellin PE2 tyres Anthracite - rare colour Awesome little car, I'll probably sell without the Weitecs unless a buyer specifies they want them, so if anyone is interested drop me a pm about the car or coils.
  3. I have been thinking about a VTS/106 GTi, but to be honest I need aircon in my next car, unless i find a mint 172 cup without aircon. I can't afford a mini, nor would I ever own one, think they are terrible, and although good handling they are pointless! Tiny inside, drink fuel and terrible looks, in my opinion! I'm not after a grown up car though, i want a fun car that wont be poo in track but is useable everyday....Clio Sport it is then!!
  4. Putney - I'm far form a boy racer, There are a few country roads near me that I sometimes have a play down, and the Lupo is not the better car of the 2. Also, I want to do a few track days this year, and the Lupo isn;t that car for that. Especially with the leather being slippy around corners. I do love the car all round, but it just doesnt put the smile on my face when driving that the Clio did. I know they are different cars and need driving differently, but as said it's a well built hatch, not a play toy. To be honest I'm thinking maybe about a 172 cup, going to check my insurance tomorrow.
  5. Right, I've come to a 2002 Lupo Gti from a 04 1.2 16v clio that I had for a little over 2 years. The Lupo seemed like evrything I wanted, quick, looks awesome, xenons, aircon, leather, rarity, ability to turn heads etc etc, I have fitted some Weitec coilovers too and it looks mint. However, it is nowhere near as much fun as my Clio used to be, yes it is faster, better built, arguably looks better depending on my mood...but handles nowhere near as good. Lupo on Weitecs and Clio on some cheapo -60mm springs and there is no contest between the 2, the clio will carry so much more speed through bends. I was set on a 2.0 clio, but then the Lupo came up at a good price so I went for it, although now I'm thinking should I sell up and buy a Renaultsport Clio...I'm gonna give the Lupo a few months whilst I save up some more cash and pay off my overdraft, but I can't help thinking it won't grow on me as much as I hoped. Any opinions etc?!
  6. Ah right, I suppose it might depends on the wear on sporings etc? Going off Johans measurements mine is lowered 70mm at the front, and 75mm at the rear. I thought it would be a bit more in all honesty, but it looks cool and thats what counts!!
  7. Thanks Johan, I'll measure mine on flat ground tomorrow and see how much lower I have gone. Appreciate the help
  8. Does anyone with a standard height Lupo Gti fancy doing me a favour? I'm just wondering if someone can measure from the edge of the centre cap to the bottom of the arch on the front and the rear and tell me the measurement so I can get a rough idea on how much lower mine is now. Would be much appreciated.......
  9. First owner of mine paid £16500 for it, how mad is that?!
  10. Ah right, thanks for the replies.
  11. What does this do, noticed it today for the first time! I'm guessing enabling and disabling the alarm? How do I make sure it is enabled?
  12. It will be fine! I've just dropped it down another 10mm and it's ok, was scraping like mad when i first lowered it, sounded horrible!! Ah right, is this a common problem, I hope not!! Fogs?!?!
  13. Haha, it's pretty low, I'm hoping to go a bit lower too, another 10mm on the fronts should be ok. Does scrape sometimes, nothing big though! That doesn't sound good, how many miles did that go on? £650 is a mad price! Yeah I will do, I drive through most days to and from work so if you see me give me a flash!!
  14. Ah right, looked nice, loving the wheels!! I've got an anthracite GTi, just put some coils on it, theres a thread floating about on here somewhere with some pics in! What gearbox work you having done, nothing drastic I hope?!
  15. Any others around here, not seen many GTi's or any other models to be honest! I have spotted a Y reg GTi in PArkway VW a few times, not sure if the owner works there? On MIM's, front fogs and an exhaust?
  16. ^ do you mean £620 to fully fit them and set up? Seems a bit much, i paid under £500, fitted myself and set up for £45. If you have never done suspension before it may be a struggle, if you have it's easy. PM me if you want any advice etc.
  17. ^ thats my car ! The Weitecs are awesome, admitidly I have never owned coils before, but if it gets better than the quality of these then you are on to a winner.
  18. nice!! you win in the leather battle! any chance you would let on how much it cost? pm if it's better?
  19. Ah right, what seats do you have? Well it could have been this one to be fair, but at the price they wanted and what I got it for then it wouldn't have still been around for me to buy it had they put it up for sale!
  20. Cheers Joe. The height it sits at it what I want to leave it as, I won't be adjusting it after it's done. Booked in at Midland VW for next thurs afternoon so should all be sorted then
  21. OK, cheers for the advice. Well from Monday I'll have the height set how it will stay, I am on day release to college and it has a few vicious speed bumps, and they are the worst things I have to contend with, so if it will get over at the current height then I'll be happy. How long would you say it will be for them to bed in, obviuously there isn't an exact figure, but I'll be looking to book it in for the end of next week, and they were fitted yesterday, so roughly a week, and probably 200-250 miles on them, would that be enough? I'm a bit worried about the excessive camber on the front right wheel though, it's pretty bad in my opinion, much worse than I thought it would be...
  22. Thanks John, much appreciated. Yeah I wasn;t looking for posititve camber, but the front right is VERY negative at the mo, and the left is noticeable, so in my opinion it needs reducing a fair way. Will it need corner weighting? Worthwhile?
  23. Yeah I know, once they have been set up I'll coat them all up to protect them. Thanks, I love it Cheers mate, just can't wait to get it pro set up now to finish them off! Hopefully next week. Thanks Si, it's called anthracite grey i think, does look nice! Some updated pics after levelling it out today, and lifting the front slightly to stop the catching on full lock:
  24. Thanks for the comments. I'll give them a ring tomorrow to get it booked in, then play with the car on monday to see how low I can go without smashing the speed bumps at college! Joe, you seem to know them, does this price seem cheap or what they would normally charge?
