I got an ALDI leaflet through the door with one of the local papers the other day and they had some sat nav stuff in there sorry cant remember the details but may be worth having a look in one of their stores!

yeh me too exactly the same! when did it come into play that tax was charged as per emissions? could that be why theres variation?

Hopefully the handy dremmel will help those hard to reach places! anyone know of an easy way to strip them down (chemically or is snadblasting the best option?)

I was gonna let a pro do it but the wheels only cost me £50 so didnt really see the point in spending £40 per wheel refurbing them when i could have a bash myself.

several months ago i bought some BBS wheels off ebay, not sure which ones they are but they are in need of a refurb. Now although i could send them off to be done i fancied having a go myself, so was wondering if anyone knows of a DIY guide on doing it or can give me any tips on whats best to use (what grade wet and dry to use, what paint and lacquer etc). Cheers!!

like i said just an idea at the mo, i havent got stupid amounts of cash in reserve so we shall see! ill look into it more first

Yeh its a GTi but due to the lack of tuning parts etc i thought this might be a more cost effective route at gaining more power!

I thought Jabbasport kept them in stock and do the upgrades on a part ex type basis? Theres plenty of G60 corrados out there as well so surely finding one thats just been written off shouldnt be too hard!

oh right i see, learn something new everyday!! ill have to look into that then as although its more expensive its a lot more common which is always a bonus when looking for an engine. Not sure when ill be doing this as far too busy to start taking my car apart! so merely an idea at the moment!

well if it goes into the mk iv polo then it should be pretty straight forward as you say! i didnt want to go down the G60 route as surely it would take as much work as fitting the 1.8T wouldnt it due to the size? And with the ability to get some crazy power figures from the 1.3 lump i.e. put a R1 G60 charger on there, uprated intercooler, chip and pully should see some impressive figures (think some people have had 200bhp out of the motor style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> ) which basically means its a lot easier than trying to squeeze extra out of the GTi motor!

Just wondered how easy it would be to put the polo G40 lump into the loop, and what would be needed to carry out the conversion? Or on the other hand would it be more hassle than its worth? any suggestions would be great. thanks Darren

ive often thought about getting a respray done and making mine white, it would be rare but a bit bland tho

Do you have a BMC fitted? only if you havent done the oil breather mod so its contained within the piping youll get a petrol smell coming through your heater vents!

too late unfortunately the parts have already been ordered and arrived this morning! Luckily as its my mate doing it hes only charging me £40 labour so thats saving me a fortune! He tried euro carparts and it was them that told him you can only get the parts from the dealer :?

giving some pasty down the country lanes near me next thing i know i cant change up a gear so begin to slow down, try and change but theres no life in the clutch pedal!!! gutted!! Luckily ive got a mate who has a garage so he brought the tow truck and took me to the garage! now the thing is he's tried getting the new clutch from his usual parts places but to no avail! does anyone know of places that do replacement clutches for a GTi other than the main dealer only they're after £250 + vat for parts!! :?

I heard that some GTI's have belts and some have a chain is that true?
