  1. Great thanks for the link, they don’t seem to list one on the website for the GTI but I have emailed to see if they can provide one.
  2. Thanks for the things to check, I’m pretty sure it’s the cat, it looks badly corroded and has started to blow (there’s also an awful eggy smell in the car went it’s running but cold engine). The car is looked after but does very little mileage unfortunately it’s not garaged.
  3. Hi all, it’s been a long time since positing last but we still have the GTI all of these years on! However the cat is on its way out and we can’t find a replacement, we managed to get hold of a new genuine Vw exhaust system a few years ago but the car is still on its original cat, can anyone suggest somewhere that we might be able to get one? Thanks
  4. Do you still have the Janspeed exhaust to sell? Tried to pm you but it bounced back - please can you pm me? :-)
  5. Hello, not been on here in a long time...but need help! My car is making a kind of clunk/bang noise from the front left wheel area when the weight shifts (e.g. going round a roundabout), or if I put the car in full lock when parking/reversing. I took it to the local VW dealership but they couldn't find or hear anything (despite me pulling out the garage and it did it straight away)!! My other half replaced the strut top mounts today in case it was that...but it wasn't. Just wondered if anyone on here has had anything similar? Thanks!
  6. Thanks very much!! Another step closer to 30... yikes!! (but my sister tells me its not as scary as you'd think!). Not posted on here in a while...hope all is well with everyone style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> just off for my birthday tea style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />
  7. Will try to brave leaving it on for a long go, it really stinks & I can't hack it 1st thing in the morning!! I've had it about 2 and a half years now and I've not had the aircon serviced, etc but think now may be the time!! I try to run it every week or so for about 10 mins during winter and use it as much as I can in the summer. Fingers crossed!!
  8. Hi, my air conditioning has started to blow out a funny smell when I put it on - like a sulphur smell. Has anyone else had this problem? Cheers style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  9. Yesterday about 9am (ish). Think it was 54 reg. Anyone on here? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  10. On Friday 28th, first seen heading towards Scarborough on the Whitby road, then parked up on North Bay, reg no XXXX KUB I think style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  11. Hi, I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on something that happened to me today in the pouring rain: my drivers side wiper went off the screen (to the right) and stayed in a vertical position whilst the passenger side one carried on working as normal. It appears that the pivot under the wiper (little ball joint thing) has become disconnected and when clipped back together it doesn't retain very well. Any ideas on how I can cure this cos its not the safest thing when I can't see in front of me and have to drive leaning across the passenger side!! I'm so very glad it didn't happen last night when i was driving to my mate's along a very lonely windey road, I was spooked enough as it was style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  12. Excellent news! Well done!!!! She looks so cute! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="clap.gif" />
  13. Thanks, got new ones from the local dealer with a discount style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> turns out it only needed front ones when Shaw checked but when I had it serviced in March they said they were 70% worn (although there was plenty left when he took them off!). Better safe than sorry. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  14. Mine need replacing and I was wondering if you could recommend some to me - could you tell me which ones you like, how much they are (I'm assuming for a full set) and where I can get them from. Am rather brassic at the mo so can't really push the boat out! Thanks guys! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  15. Grey gti with tinted windows spotted on Valley Road on Sunday 17th by my boyfriend - anyone from here?
  16. We're coming to this too - think Shaw's car is on the Dubforce stand and someone from Demon VW wants mine on their stand, but we'll come and say hello! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

  18. Hi!! Finally another person near me! Will keep an eye out for you. I saw you were at Uni in Scarbs. I've got a silver gti. Haven't seen any others around these parts so chances are if you see one it'll be me. Give me a toot if you pass me. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> What reg is yours, so I'll keep an eye out for you?
  19. With a young dark haired chap driving it. Through Ayton at about 12pm today. Not seen it before so wondered if it was one of you guys out on a day trip?
  20. Good good! Any more takers? I reckon it should take only just a smidge over an hour from the Sheffield area... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  21. Anyone going? I'll be going but not in loop! www.vwsummernights.co.uk
  22. Ahhh I will try that then, thanks for the info! And no was def in 1st as it felt as 1st gear would i.e. not sluggish. Plus had def been in neutral at the lights. I've only just had it serviced a month ago so had a panic that it might be something like them doing an oil change and forgetting to put the oil back in but have checked all the obvious. But have had it over a year now and this is the first blip - good going for my track record! Hopefully it won't have locked me out when I go to it this morning!
  23. Hi guys, Haven't really been on here in a while! V hectic at work style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="evil.gif" /> Anyhow... was on my way to work this morning and just set off from the traffic lights and the blighter conked out on me!! Nice place to do it mind, in the middle of a busy juction! It just died and my "stall lights" came on but I hadn't stalled! :? Had zipped off in 1st and was changing into 2nd when it happened and there was a funny noise like the sound when you leave the lights on and open the door but it was intermittent, which is when I looked down and saw it had cut out. I came to a stop and started her again and all was well! Can anyone shed some light on this random incident? Oh and it happened just seconds after I was sat in a traffic jam thinking that if I still had the Mk1 it would have boiled over by now!! Typical!
  24. Ford Escort 1.6L (white flash) Saxo VTR (black flash, kept dying, played hell=money back) Saxo VTR (green flash, glutton for punishment) Mk1 golf gti 1.6 (bean machine Mk1) Mk1 golf gti 1.8 (green flash mk2 - sold to Shaw who put G60 in it!) Lupo gti! (Bean machine mk2) Favourite? Mk1 gti 1.6. Wholly unreliable but loved it to bits! Many tears shed when I sold her (and the next one for that matter!). I think she lives around Carlisle now - silver, UNF 404X - has anyone seen her?!!!
  25. Nah, it was Saturday morning about 10...soz! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
