  1. The little interior door lever, that you pull to let yourself out has bust, think a cable or something inside has snapped (not had door card off yet). Im reduced to winding down the window and letting myself out using the exterior handle. Whats likely to have happened and are parts available (or is it a whole new mech)?
  2. lol, mine also does this. Its probably more common than you think, but everybody is to scared to mention it incase you are branded a crazy person...lol Mine seemed to start to do it when I fitted the wind deflectors to the front windows so just put it down to that. It makes me laugh, so I dont let it bother me. But I also considered the possibility of an owl trapped in my engine bay. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  3. From memory, when you have undone the gator pull it right up and over the knob so its inside out. There is a little clip that needs prising open, then the knob should come off with the gator attached to it.
  4. I got a scooter in the back of my saxo once. I picked it up from Kidderminster and drove back to london with it sticking out of the boot. The guy I bought it off couldnt beleive it when I arrived to collect it with a bloody saxo...lol
  5. EPC is electronic pedal control as far as im aware. The 'Check' light is the engine management system. When I got my Lupo, both lights were on. I sorted the EPC light by cleaning the throttle body with carb cleaner. Never been back on since. The 'Check' light is still on however. I bought a VAGCOM cable and plugged it into my laptop to fault read it, and I believe it is the lambda probe (as opposed to the sensor). I can clear it and it comes back after a few miles. Sometimes it just goes off for a few random miles, then comes back on again. On Friday, it went off for about 80 miles round the m25 and didnt come back on until the next day. Any ideas why this would happen?
  6. WOW!!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> Loving them mate. Proper style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" /> Very good work (better than the mono's)...
  7. Does the cable that powers them have a plug somewhere to unclip it? Just had a look and couldnt see anything???
  8. It'll have to. The next stage of mods, i.e. retrim, repaint, coilovers, body mods (smoothing etc) are outside of my budget for the foreseeable future.
  9. I have got a manual stubby drivers mirror at home waiting for me to fit, but as the original mirrors are electric I was wondering if I could remove all the mechanism from the larger electric mirror and swap it with the smaller manual mirror internals? Basically, when you have stripped down the larger and smaller mirrors, are the internal mechanisms the same size? If so I could clip the smaller glass to the electric mechanism and put it back inside the stubby mirror casing? If not, i'll justr have to remove the cable and go manual on the drivers side (not the end of the world, but obviously not as good as convrting it to eleccy).
  10. Right, the Kamei grill obviously needs the space filling in the bonnet if you are going badge-less, but as I am working on a very tight budget, I didnt have the money to pay to get it filled and painted. So, I took the original grill badge, and split the front (chrome) part of the emblem from the grey plastic bit behind it so it would lie flat on the kamei grill, and then stuck it in place. Works very well and is cheap style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Still need to do the rear badge in black to match, fit the aero front wipers, stubby drivers mirror and remove the GT and 16V badges from the back. Then I am leaving it alone.
  11. Im down 40-50mm with 7x15 Brocks ET35, with no probs. I reckon I can go for a 20mm spacer which will bring it down to ET15 without too much fuss. But then it aint that low really I guess.
  12. Cheers... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> The rear VW badge is being done all black this weekend hopefully, to match the front (that is also going to stay full black). Did ponder on the red accents, but I think any more red will be overload. And the other badges are being removed. Got another idea instead of using the exisitng GT and 16V badges...
  13. Easiest thing to do is sell the Arosa and buy a Lupo...lol
  14. Try using a little hack saw to cut the notches. A file will take forever.
  15. Mine went straight on, no probs at all. Strange that some people have trouble.
  16. I want some 20mm spacers for my rear wheels. Go for Hubcentric though, much better than the 'universal' type.
  17. Pretty sure thats written on the wheel rim rather the tyre as well.
  18. Thats cool. Its getting lots of very mixed feedback, people are either loving it or hating it. And thats the way I would rather have it. Same as my old mk1, whether you liked or disliked it, it always got a reaction. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  19. Lol, cheers for the replies guys, good and bad. Personally, im 'getting used' to it, shall we say. When I first put the wheels on, there wasnt the major WOW factor I was expecting, not that Mike didnt do an amazing job with them, just that I think it was cos it looked so different. Ive just done 350 miles in the last two days in it, got them nice and run in, not quite so shiny and new, and Im starting to love the look. Its not quite so bright and a bit more subtle (good excuse for not cleaning it...lol) Cant go any lower unfortunately. The miles ive just done, have been down to a site visit to a job of ours on the Norfolk Broads, and some of the access tracks to the sites I couldnt manage as it is, and its not even that low. To finish (if you can ever say that) ive got a set of Lupo GTI aero wipers waiting at the post office along with a stubby driver mirror (euro passenger) that need to be fitted. Also gonna debadge and spray the rear VW badge black. Oh, and if anyone has any 15 or 20mm spacers give me a shout. I want to space the rears out a touch to reduce the offset and fill the arch better.
  20. I was gonna do this on my old two tone mk1 Golf, only instead of writing 'Dunlop' I was gonna change it to 'Dunlow', cos it was kinda slammed. Sold it before I got round to doing it, but think it wouldve been cool cos it was an older car. Lupo's are too modern IMO to carry it off.
  21. I know, a couple of people have noticed that. Im thinking of doing away with the GT and 16V badges, spraying the VW badge black to match the front and maybe gettinga red 16v badge off an older VW?
  22. Yeah, thats something I forgot to do, i'll get some on tomorrow.
