  1. Xenons are an option on Beetles & some Golfs and cost around £650-£700! The chances of finding a Loop Gti in the scrappies are slim tho... so dont fancy yer chances of doing it cheap. :0
  2. I get around 200 to the tankful, but I do give it some shoe. Heres one though... how many miles has everyone been brave/stupid enough to do on the petrol warning light? I start the bidding at 17! :sigh:
  3. Count my lupo in for that too! Crusoe, youve seen my motor is in dire need o a wash. No need to go down to bikinis tho gals, wet `t-shirts` would do! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  4. Aaaah, welcome back `old-school` Crusoe sleaze! Keep up the good work min! hehehe
  5. Some of me mates used to go take their cars/bikes down, its meant to be a great laugh! Ages ago, me mate was fastest on the day on his R1 - beating some dude on a CBR 600 on one wheel, hehehe!!! I laughed cos the poor guy musta thought "Aaaah, I'll be sneaky & take my bike, make all these cardicks look stupid". Might pop down meself I suppose
  6. [it looked like something flash in a hurry so let it past] Damned right - it was me, hehehe. Aye, that sticker would be ace... If its up for auction, I'll give ya 50p, an orange, any sweeties I got leftover from xmas, oh... and I'll let you win next time! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  7. Hahahahaha! Yeah, it was me! I came outta the garage and a big BMW estate went past as I was speeding up, followed by an Audi... then a wee car wi twin exhaust screamed by! haha Thought yer motor was black! Nah, it looks cool at night though... had to nip by & gie a wee toot to say hullo. I made it home from Dyce in an hour (during rush hour!) so my poor 5 speed was getting hammered!! Meant to post at night, but couldnt be arsed, hehe. I saw ye nip off up the coast road... I wasnt gonna chance it, cos it woulda just gotten silly! Cacha later.
  8. Quote from specialist cars, Aberdeen was £189.50. Not willing to deal with them after they messed me around for weeks in the summer tho. Got told it was so dear "Because its a major service" - an oil change?!?!?!?! Totally put me off VW.
  9. People keep getting annoyed at me when I use me screenwash wi me lights on.... it must look like i'm flashing at them when the water sprays over the xenons!
  10. Just put my Gti in for its 2nd service, at 12k miles (its 2 years old). Basically its oil, oil filter & pollen filter + a quick `all-round` check. Total cost £190!!! £35 for the oil alone?!!!!! I mean - `come-on` VW, give's a break! Then, i get told "an exhaust clamp was broken" so new centre section must be replaced, total cost to be £90 + VAT + fitting. The milage is low & the car is spotless, so it cannot be corrosion causing the break - should I have to pay for any repair?! Cant believe I'm regretting going from an old beaten up 205 1.9 to a Lupo Gti......
  11. I'd forget the exhaust & go get it chipped - squeeze 100bhp from it!!!!
  12. Cheers man, think I'll give it a swerve then! Planning to test the loop on the rolling road, so I suppose standard nick would be best. Thanks everyone! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  13. Excellent, what kinda price can I expect? £`20-30ish`? Any recommendations on a supplier? Cheers
  14. Hullo, does anyone know what kind of panel air filter element (to fit in the original `set-up`) is best for the Lupo Gti? And where to get one from? Am thinking K&N from past experiences. I dont want to fit an induction kit, I've used plenty of them before and they're too much of a pain in the ass for the benefit. Cheers, Zippy
  15. Thats what happens when you fit a jet engine to a lupo!!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  16. Cheers folks, I see someone else has had the same trouble using a JVC unit on a gti, so will try & ask them what the prob was. Theres 3 plugs from the lupo to the original stereo, but only 2 plugs each side of the adapter cable. They plug in nice & easy & the JVC works fine. But the 3rd VW plug wi 2 wires (REM CL & CLOCK - judging by the diagram on the gamma unit) has nowhere to go. Its nowt to do with an amp, as its the original VW wiring. The guy in Checkpoint (Aberdeen) reckoned the REM CL wire just needed to join to a power feed from the stereo, god only knows! Thinking of chasing a 2nd hand VW in dash CD just for now... nae sure. I mean, what has everyone else done when changing head units? Thanks again boys & girls, Zippy Oh, I'm nae an aussie by the way, hahaha!
  17. G'day folks, I'm new to the Lupo, been chasing one for aaaages, got it last week & love it. BUT... replaced the radio cassette with a JVC in dash CD, and am missing the remote locking. There was a connection left over with 2 wires (rem C/L was one of them- as shown on old radio diagram). The cd player works fine, but what do I have to do with these 2 wires??? Do I have the wrong wiring loom adapter? Cheers, Zippy PS - know JVC isnt the best, but its a spare we have seeing as it wont suit the Mrs' Beetle! lees_iain@hotmail.com
