  1. Hi all, I know this has probably been asked but I have searched and I cant seem to find a straight forward answer. How do you check the gearbox oil level...i have major crunching gears an what i think may be a gear oil leak from the box. Can anyone help me... is there some kind of dip stick? pics would be very handy if anyone has any. Thanks all
  2. Mine did, and is still doing the exact same thing. I took it all part and cleaned it and it works ok...ish. The problem I have and dont know if its connected is that it breaths really heavy and messes up the lambda every few months!
  3. Hmm all of the above lol!! It has new plugs, new leads, a new throttle body and still jumping!! So far I have determined that the lambda is knackered.. other than that no fault found on the Vagina Com... grr
  4. Hi all, If the above was on the way out what symptoms would it show? Im working my way round the engine in a bid to find out whats wrong!! grr
  5. Thank you mate, I am going to take it for a lambda replacement on Tuesday and hope that fixes it, cos ive replaced the entire throttle body and its still doing it. I mean the lambda is screwed, i can see the exhaust soot actually coming through the sensor! But this is getting realy bad now..its like driving a Kanaroo. Hopefully this will fix it, but im all out of ideas, im thinking coil and all sorts now.
  6. Hi all, Yet again im sorry for bringing this up but..... Put the new throttle valve control unit on today, before it went on VAG com was coming up with Lambda probe blown and Throttle position actuator blown. Now we put the new one on and it seemed ok to start of with but after driving it up the road it is EXACTLY the same if not worse. Does anyone know what this is likely to be as i am fast running out of ideas. When the car left the garage it had no fault codes at all but the lambda is faulty, I can see where the exhaust gases are blowing through the middle of the lambda. So i still have the massive problem after blowing £100 on new throttle unit. Its weird, if i rev the engine from the wire it gets to about 2500rpm then loses power stutters and wants to stall but catches itself. Then it will rev really high and eventually drop back down. Could a faulty lambda cause this? If its reading incorrect o2 then will the ecu go against this by over fuelling and breathing heavy, then if its breathing heavy that would mess up the idle? Im going for the lambda next on my list.... But if you rev the engine at the throttle cable end the spring on the throtle valve feels like its slipping but only when the revs drop!! Im totally confused and fed up with this problem, plus the car is going through SOO much fuel..i got 140 miles out of a tank yesterday!!! If anyone could help i will reward them with beer... or donate an organ or something cos im at my wits end :-(
  7. if its any help mine was stood in a garage for a few weeks and that had white stuff in it afterwards, soon as you turn the key it will go i bet. I spoke to a friend of mine who is a VAG specialist and he reckons the Lupo engines are pretty bombproof as far as heads go, i mean they can go but not very often, if it doesnt then do a compression test to be sure.
  8. Bloody hell..thats not even a big kerb!! The one i hit was about 8 inches high and i hit it at about 40mph!! Did a bit of damage. I woulnt have had that kind of money either but it all went through the insurance and the garage that did the repairs didnt do them properly, it all got very messy but i won in the end and voila £2300 work done for free!! kerching!
  9. Sorry to hear about this mate. I did damage like that and took it along to VW and as said a bit further back they charged £2300 in the end!! It was for similar kind of damage as well, dont have the list to hand but all of the parts you mentioned were replaced on mine as well as well as the steering rack and rear axle. So i can quite understand these kinds of prices. Sorry to hear about this
  10. Hello, Now this isnt meant to scare you but I did the exact same thing in November of last year and by the sounds of it i did more damage than you. The bill eventually came to £2300, but that was all done under the insurance. The list of repairs was massive, it may be wise to check that your rear axle isnt bent as well depending on how hard you hit the kerb ?
  11. Hi all, Problems ive had with mine so far are as follows: 1. Broken water pump leading to insane overheating- hint..VW made the original pump with a PLASTIC impeller! 2. The usual blocked rear washer. 3. Catalytic converter failed twice now i think/ 4. Lambda sensor knackered. 5. Thermostat stuck 6. Fan switch blown. 7. Entire throttle valve control unit blown - £335 main dealer!!! but got one for £97 8. Warped front discs already changed once but beginning to go again! 9. Tappety rattle - assured this is normal. 10. Breathing really heavy dont know why, but the throttle body is caked in crap. 11. Air filter covered in oil through the breather... dont know why. Thats about it fir now.
  12. Not sure if the sport is the same as the AHW? If so might be worth getting a spare if you are still interested in selling? Thanks, Dan
  13. Hi ya, Im after a throttle valve control unit VW part number 036 133 064D My throttle unit is cream crackered :-(
  14. Hi all, Does anyone know of any good breakers out there that can supply parts at a reasonable price? Getting desperate for a part :-( thanks.
  15. Easy guys!! There are benefits for and against VAG com, i take all points on board. Problem I have is that he RAC put their own kind of scanning software on it and it came back with throttle position sensor, which is in the throttle valve conrol unit which is £300 from VW main dealer. I didnt think the 1.4 16v had an Idle control valve? Im taking it to a VAG specialist on Friday so watch this space hopefully he can tell me whats wrong. Am i right in thinking that the 1,4 16v AHW doesnt have a dizzy? Hes pretty good this guy so i will report back what he finds. He does REVO as well lol... REVO the Lupe? lmao!!! but so far changed the leads, plugs, battery is good, but still misses and jumps like a bloody kangaroo!! Worse today than ever before.!!
  16. Sorry to drag this up again folks but... I swapped the HT leads today and it is STILL spluttering, oddly it only seems to do this while revving at certain revs..say 2500rpm. Ill be driving along and i will just hesitate and splutter, it sounds like a definate misfire. While its doing this if i pull up to stop the idle is all over the place. This is really driving me mad now as I really dont know what this could be... anyone got any ideas? im still thinking throttle position sensor?
  17. Ahh hello lol I thought it was you. Say hello to Arron for me, sadly the supra had to go up the road. 15mpg got a bit silly in the end. I still remember taking Arron for a spin in the supra and scaring the **** out of him lol He will remember it well!!
  18. Hello Spanners! I used to drive a Supra before Lupo ownership lol I do like a nice scoob!!
  19. Well i did have plans for the Lupo but its in a repair centre at the moment following a bodged repair job after an accident i had last October. Its not looking good though im afraid people... basically the garage that did the repairs last year didnt replace half of what they said. I have been locked in an intense insurance battle for the last 12 months and have been having a nightmare.. I have a bit of a worry that they will write it off :-( Oh and the Supra was lurvey lol... it was an N/A and had a ot of work done on it.. uprated injectors..apexi induction.. .3.5" pipework straight through..both cats off.. Hyper performance downpipes.. custom flip dash spray job... HKS hyper muffler exhaust... full original Veilside bodykit from nemesis performance... the list goes on. It was pushing around 280 ish brake in the end from its 215 standard. But before i sold it i made sure it hit 165mph at Bruntingthorpe ;-)
  20. Hi all, I ve been on here a while but I thought it would be good to say hello and show you my car and others. This is what I used to drive, was a great car but at 15mpg and a £630 tyre bill every so many months it all got a bit daft in the end. Although saying that id buy another in a second! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> This is what I drive now...bit of a difference lol but I love my little green car border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> And keeping it VW this is my girlfriends car.. Mk2 GTI 16V...he is called Rolf and goes like stink, we love the Rolf. border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> Hello all again.
  21. Ta matey, thats a great help. Having a jumpy lupo problem and want to eliminate leads although being New Years Day its a bit awkward lol
  22. hi all, This has probably been asked but I couldnt find anything with a search. Does anyone know the part number and where to get Bosch equivalent HT leads for 1.4 16v AHW lupo 99? Just went to Halfrauds and they dont seem to have a clue what im talking about. Thanks.
  23. See this is what happens to mine and when it overheated and blew up due to blown water pump the RAC blokee came along and plugged in his own RAC diagnostic machine. And that came up with throttle position sensor. Which i later found out as actually being insie the throttle valve control unit. And these are about £300 main dealer part only!!
  24. Yeah I had noticed that this tends to happen after rain etc..like yesterday driving through floods on the bloody A35!! Poor little lupo is covered in crap!
