    Lyla the GTi

isn't it illegal to have german plates on a uk registered car, they look good tho especially the front one i always facied black numberplates but i didnt want to give the police any excuses
  2. i have seen it mentioned that the gti has traction control and E,B,D, is this nonsence or is it a non uk option
  3. you just missed one 2002, silver, air con, leather, sunroof
  4. theres been a few front engined fwd minis i think, theres even a yank making a four wheel drive busa engined track car (looks incredable) looking forward to see the engine install.

As for overpriced cars, he is right in a way chris, there are some cars with silly prices, but these tend to be the VW dealer prices, private buys are the real bargains. Marq's mint black GTi didn't sell for ages last year, then went at the last minute for £5500, a bargain imho. There are those private sellers that do dream a little, but thats normal, but I am really sick (and I'm not just talking about on here, I see it on pistonheads and others), of people who are looking to buy coming on a forum and proclaiming they have seen a cheaper car, with a better spec at xxx place, in a vain attempt to get a deal. If you did see it, go buy it! Not having a go at anyone, it tends to be the un-registered professional lurkers in for sale forum who like to impart expert knowledge. im just trying to figure out a realistic budget, im not ready to buy just yet, the chances of someone on this site selling there car and being resonably close to me is fairly slim. by the way there is a wanted add on pistonheads for for a lupo gti or polo gti, (nothing to do with me) ill shut up about prices now, thanks for the response

please note, i love vws (the good ones, anyway) I hate to extoll the virtues of bmw but the mini cooper is a fantastic car (engine apart) thats why that sells in huge numbers and the lupo didn't only the market decides the price otherwise i would be commuting to work in a 250GTO ps ain't depresiation a b*tch if your car is lossing a grand a year thats not bad, if i buy one for 7k next week i will expect it to be worth less than 4 in 3 years probably nearer 3k if i could buy a ferrari 550 for 170k it would be worth 30% less by time i got to the end of the road if you want to be really depressed try looking at parkers but if they are worth more to the owner than a buyer, they should not sell im about to have the same problem with my beloved golf

i dont mean to be rude but the prices of the gti varie massivly minis are a law unto themselves, and there prices dont drop for some very good reasons 2003, 17000miles ,blue £6850 i call this realistic more than half its origanal price after 3 years is very good but a lot of people seem to be asking silly money look at a mk4 4 motion 60000 miles over 20k when new i know this is club lupo so it is expected that people who love there car think it is worth more than it actually is 2 silver ones on ebay went for 5000 one sold one didnt 60000 miles and 5 speeders, i think the one that sold did very well to get it by the way i am still searching this site, found some answers but not all

is there any differance in quality between the volksburg and belgium made loops and when did they change there was a beautiful blue one in the autotrader last week at a good price, but there are a lot of overpriced examples around, maybe the best bet is to give it a coulpe of months see if anything turns up does anyone know how many of the other colours were made, im guessing 80% are silver, any ideas

if i could go out on saturday and pick a car up in the spec i wanted, it would be grey, silver(i know its common but it looks great or black, in that order with the grey fabric interior. but to be honest air-con is the only thing i would consider adding how often do nice clean cars come up for sale, or do i just buy the first good reasonably priced example i find

i was thinking the same, also think the same thing about air-con and eletric heated seats and mirrors, but should this put you off a car if it has these options fitted. do they really add that much weight is a fully loaded lupo as desirable as the standard gti without any extras, where can i find pics of the sunroof

how rare and sought after is the sunroof option on the gti and what coulours are available as all the ones around where i live are silver. In readers rides ive seen the red, blue, black and grey, is that it cheers
  12. i agree, they are deffinately the cheapest for my modded golf. one of the companies that advertises in the back of one of the golf magazines was also nearly as cheap as it specialises in vws. if there is not much differance in price you are probably better of going with a larger company that has a 24 hour claim line but there is no correct answer to this question, phone everyone you can think of, enjoy
  13. The Lupo is not as cool, not as fast and not as 'fun' to drive (i noticed the drop in torque more than anything)..... but its newer, less fat - felt more like a MKI GTI than a MKII and never failed to make me smile. is a mk2 cool, those were my thoughts about it being better than the Lupo. but the lupo looks great and is newer. everyone seems to agree it puts a smile on there face

    Cheap?

its not the colour i really want but i phoned up anyway. sold for £6850., sounds about right to me.
  15. mines got konis and eibech spring
  16. can we all assume we all have giant knobs (im not that interested but very proud of my fellow v-dubbers) im only looking for a good drivers car ps why didnt the rest of your post show up oh there it is
  17. The mk4 is fatter and slower than i am (just) and i never liked the 8v boring engine . loved the pics of your car. is the colour really that dark, the lupo is very composed to drive i think its the quiet exhaust that deminishes the exitement. ps. congrats on the todger I would say the GTi is for everyone, certainly more blokes on here with them than ladies (all though this could be forum usage.....). I hate to think your opinions of the other models lol
  18. come now, you must have thought it. at least once not sure if thats a bad thing, i like a bit of weight in a clutch.
  19. was anyone disapointed when they traded in there mk 2 golf gti for a lupo gti. im not sure what to think style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> i drove one today. not as exiting or quick as my 16v golf and a bit girlie style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> but it is a nice car. im very tempted
  20. dont get me wrong, i know its not a fair comparrison but i agree about the mini, there prises just dont drop, but service costs are cheap as chips (it makes no sence to buy a second hand one, pity about the engine) as for the loop i would try and hold out for 7K at the least but i would probably put it on at about 8K
  21. silver and grey looks fantastic but id foget the badboy bonnet
  22. id never considered an integra but my brother got a mint 2000 plater with 60000 on the clock .for less than 8k ive never driven a better car, sorry about the quick hijack but have you seen what you can buy with 8k these days. most cars lose half their value (usually more) in the first 3 years, that makes it £6500 there was a great looking red one in the for sale section a while back for that price. i thick i will have a go in the silver one down the road and see if i fancy one, i had a go in one a while ago but wasnt to keen, but there were 4 large people in it at the time. ps anyone want to give me 4k for the best car ever made (mk2 16valve golf) 200000 on the clock or is that to much.
  23. ive seen a blue 2003 with 22000 for under 7k, still sounds a little steep to me, thats near integra type r money. im beginning to thick i dont want one but i still love my mums 1 litre
  24. i know what its like to be told your cars worth less than you thought (bloody insurance companies, they have just written of my beloved mk2 16 valver) but im afraid realistically it will be between 6 and 7 grand
