    P slot tyres

Have to agree I'd rather go wider than skinnier. If you went 195 vs 155 then you have nearly an extra inch and a half width on the contact patch.

    P slot tyres

Even they are no where near half the sidewall size. 82mm vs 111mm. I think the OP might need to revise their expectations.

    P slot tyres

Logic would say if you want half the sidewall you'd want 185 30 r14 tyres, but since they don't exist you'll need to find something different you like. Standard size is 185 55 r14 by the way.
  4. Depends on prep etc. I've seen vans painted with gloss rollers and Rustoleum that you'd be hard pressed to tell weren't sprayed.
  5. Mike you are a patient guy. Fancy doing it as a service for others
  6. There is a set on ebay just now too for £140 buy it now ;-) You got pics of all 4? My front two are screwed, same as the ebay ones. Almost tempted to get another set then I can have 4 good and 4 for refurb/resale. Good wheels to tuck with ET43.
  7. Personally I think gloss black wheels always make the tyres look old and shabby. Anthracite or gunmetal looks nicer imho.
  8. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=44093 part no in that thread
  9. I think it is a quadlock and Fakra adapter you need (the link went to a Peugeot/Citroen one?) and it'll turn itself off after an hour.
  10. Oh and there is a set of new ones on ebay for £590 lol. I wish I wasn't out of work just now! Someone suggested you can swap on Audi 80 hubs on front to get 4x108 and then re-drill rears?
  11. I know, I just kinda thought it'd look good. I mashed together the first two google image results in Gimp: They are a set of wheels that I never thing look great side on, a bit of angle shows the dish better
  12. I'd love to see Escort Cossie wheels on a Lupo, but apart from the PCD being wrong getting a decent set is nigh on impossible.
  13. Ain't that the truth. Issigonis' little miracle of packaging. Not as weak as they look at uni a mate rolled one into a field and only broke his specs. Another mate had one and the passenger seat mechanism was burst, every time he put the brakes on you'd head for the window. But on the back road from Perth to his farm the thing railed the bends and flew over the humpback bridge. I don't think he ever had it above 80, but it felt like 160 at times. Greig that is GORGEOUS!
  14. I've seen some 2nd hand ones worse than the faulty one in my car. Also my neighbour kindly told me he could solder in some resistors to make it work, after I'd bought the replacement!
  15. £15 second hand. From Stevens VW Dismantlers. It is as good as new.
  16. I have to say I've no idea how anyone copes without a rear wiper on the Lupo.
  17. I've got Aerotwins and RobG has GTI ones. His look 100x better.
  18. Mine was half covered by cloth. If you stick your head under the dash at the passenger side it is pretty hard to miss. The black plastic part is about 4 inches by 6, held on by 2 brass bolts, there is a plug with 4(?) wires going in nearest the passenger door. I got mine from eBay.

    Tyre sizes

I'm hearing more and more that insurance companies are paying a lot more attention to tyres fitted to cars involved in claims. One guy even claimed the first thing the insurance assessor did was open the petrol flap to see manufacturer recommended tyre sizes and then comparing them to actual tyres. I was looking at putting 185 60 R14 on instead of 185 55 R14 as there is a huge difference in price and range. I need new tyres and it is one thing I don't like to scrimp on, so if by getting an extra few mm of sidewall I can get a named brand for the price of a LingLong then it seems to be a sensible thing to do. Any ideas if this is a bad idea from insurance point of view?
  20. Is that one of those things we used to see on RS Turbos where you put a spark plug in the exhaust?
  21. Not sure about petrol, but with my diesels Wynn's worked a lot better.
