  1. reducing to £300 today, offers still welcome
  2. anyone interested? offers taken around £350 however it really must go...
  3. Thanks James, its not burning a lot no, to be honest I really can't be doing with the hassle as I don't have the cash to try and fix it on the off chance it'll be ok and my work place is moving from 4.5 miles from my home to 12 miles away next monday so time isn't on my side! still, could be worse, could be a cinquicento!
  4. Hi, I am from Corby (yeah original username..) The emissions was blue smoke, I don't rev the car much as I try to save petrol but in the MOT they rev it up and it kicked out quite a lot of smoke. The garage said they think probably valve stems, and would be more cost efficient to put a different engine in. I don't have any space here sadly, but it is MOT til the 31st May so someone could drive it away. If you're interested I'll put the full list of failure up, and a description of the car. The mechanic said that he thought it would pass as he drove it into the garage as 'its a nice little driver'.
  5. The lupo failed today, on a few points but mainly emissions so time for it to go. My question is, will I get the most for it on something like ebay to someone who would drop a new engine in or down the breakers/ p/ex for a newer motor? thanks
  6. Sorted the service message thanks to a colleague.
  7. thanks again for your help guys, I was thinking £800, so gonna fix the window handles and see if I can get something done about the paint and airbag light and then try out the handy classified section :-)
  8. oh I'm in corby, Northants, if anyone is interested in the car
  9. thanks guys; in relation to the oil service thing, it flashes 'oil service' for a mile or so where the trip meter is, then the trip meter re-appears for the duration of the journey, with 'service interval' to the left of it. The oil level is fine, which I check weekly.
  10. hello lads and ladesses, now its spring, I am thinking of getting back onto 2 wheels, but need to sell the Lupo to facilitate this: so whats it worth? T reg, 131000 miles, great runner, changed oil and plugs etc when i got it in sept. Mot to april, tax til about june Black with a prob (a previous owner splashed paint up it and tried to scrub it off........), could be re-sprayed but it don't bother me, (passenger door and rear flank) 1.4S oil service light on, but has been serviced, and airbag light on, but that was on when I bought it . . . . .both window winders in my doornet... alloy wheels, never let me down, started first time even yesterday in -14c.
  11. had a mate service the car; new oil/plugs/air and oil filter, topped tank up and put reddex in and it virtually cured it.
  12. 1st thing in the am, no probs at all just starts up lovely and we're off!
  13. Hi Gang; I was chatting to a colleague about the Lupo's problems. To recap; juddering especially round 2k revs, and when asking for a bit of throttle eg when passing parked cars, lots of puffs of smoke. He looked at the oil and exhaust and concluded that it wasn't burning oil. At some point the head gasket had gone, but been repaired. I told him the car had been stood for a while before I bought it, and he seemed to think it might be something in the petrol. So; he told me to fill it right up, and for the next 3-4 tanks not let it drop below half a tank. Also to stick some Redex in it. This on its own seemed to make a positive difference. He then changed the air filter/oil filter/oil/ spark plugs. This seems to have made a massive difference; it now drives neatly throughout the rev-range with only the slightest hint of the juddering very occasionally, so far about 3 times in 150 miles but not nearly as bad. It has only puffed smoke a couple of times, but only in the same place under specific circumstances. This is a steep downhill slow-down into a roundabout then flatten out onto the r/a then a puff of smoke on the way out. Very odd. But, I am very pleased with the result and am not thinking of getting rid now. As an aside, the temp guage has packed in today!! Is this a fuse job? Cheeers! hope this post is handy for someone
  14. I agree with Defcon; might cost you some £ but pay you lots of piece of mind

    smokin!

boing; any ideas on the smoke plume? Seems slightly blueish which could be oil; I'm wondering if a seal is on the way out. Annoyingly, when the prev. owner took me for a spin in it, it didn't judder at all, and he didn't drive like a vicar or a loon, just normally. It had been stood for a couple of months, so I'm wondering if going back into service has pushed a couple of things over the edge. Good things though so I don't sound totally negative, its temperature is spot on all the time, steers/handles lovely, and once up to speed is lovely and smooth. Getting the oil/sparkplugs/oil&air filters tomorrow; any good deals on atm? Ta
  16. brill, thanks mate. Most of my miles are either pure 40mph to/from work or down a single carriageway national speed limit (short dual for half a mile) for about 25 miles. Once I get the juddering/smoke issue sorted I'm hoping for more. I'll wait til the light comes on, refil and report from there.
  17. hi all; just filled it up, 100 miles 1/4 tank gone. Is this about right? The previous owner must have ragged it silly as he reckoned 1 tank = 200 miles!
  18. that looks like a bodge/temp repair by a previous owner! Thanks for this; I'll look at mine tomorrow

    smokin!

hmmmmmmmm took the lupo for its longest run yet (21 miles instead of the regular 4.5 to work). A couple of times after slowing from 50 or 60 to a virtual stop for t/lights or roundabout, then accelerating smartly there was a BIG cloud of smoke which then cleared almost straight away. Is this something to really worry about? I checked the oil yesterday, and while it needs changing it wasn't any dirtier than I expected, though it did seem a bit overfull. Any ideas? I think its starting to sound a bit louder than when I got it too as in exhaust blowing. Its still juddering but only up to about 40mph but my colleague is gonna service it soon. Ta!
  20. yes and mainly blue headrests. You must have time on your hands to shave your seats lol
