  1. According to Vagcat there are 5 different water pumps listed for the Arosa (all engine codes, 1.0 & 1.4). It seems that more than one of them will fit my 1.4 APQ engine too. I have found someone selling a genuine vag waterpump and it specifically mentions my model and engine code. However, when I cross reference the part number with vagcat it is different by one letter. So I'm not sure what to go on? Vagcat waterpump part no: 030121008DX & 030121008D Genuine vw waterpump part no: 030121008CX Is it likely that more than one pump will fit?
  2. I spotted a Red Seat Arosa Mk1 with what I believe to be G60 steels?! It was near Shirley towers in Southampton.
  3. Ok, I've looked at all the part numbers and they are as follows The mat that fits the passenger foot well has part no. 6X2 061 501 - genuine lupo mat from googling the number. The driver's mat that doesn't fit has a different part number beginning 1T2 061 501 Rear mats are; 1T0 061 511 The mat that fits also has a date of 1998 on it and the rest are much newer. Can anyone confirm what part numbers are on their Lupo mats? I think I have one lupo mat and three non lupo ones! *It now seems I have one genuine Lupo mat and 3 rubber mats for a VW Touran from 2003-2006!

  5. Sorry, I just thought different people would be using the specific model forums! The driver's mat doesn't fit around the bonnet release, there is a big piece of plastic trim here that seems to get in the way.
  6. Just bought a set of rubber floor mats for a Lupo on the assumption that they would also fit the Arosa. The passenger mats fits beautifully, however the driver's side mat does not. And the rear ones seem far too big? Surely both cars have the same floor plan? Does anyone have any pictures of their mats? I'll take one of the mats I bought.

  8. Thanks for the replies chaps. I'll have another bash when I'm free. It took such a lot of force to press those clips, it was impossible to pull at it at the same time!

  10. I tried to replace my fuel filter today (under the driver's side rear arch) but gave up! The damn thing just wouldn't budge and my fingers became so sore I just left it. From what I've read, this shouldn't be a big job! I'm also thinking that the current filter is the original. Its made from black plastic, not metal. The fuel lines have clips on them with little tabs that look like they need depressing to get them off. This is what made my fingers so sore and numb and led me to giving up! Who has done this job? I'm sure the car would run even better with a new filter on. And how do you de-pressurise the fuel system? I couldn't see a fuse/relay for the fuel pump and there are only about 4 relays, and I've no idea what they control? Removing a relay is also another issue as they are sandwiched behind the fuses and there is no room to get them out? Back in the warm now with my brittle fingers....
  11. Driving like sister wendy will tease out more miles too!
  12. I'm thinking of getting some 15" G60 steel wheels for the arosa and was wondering what to do about tyre pressures? I just want more of a footprint on the road and I like the look of these wheels. As far as tyres go, I'm not after super low profile or stupidly wide, perhaps some 185/55/15s? Anyone got any ideas? Will it affect the speedo in any way as there will be a 2" difference in the size of the wheels?
  13. Largely depends on your driving style and length of commute I think. However, around town (stop start traffic) mine goes down to about 33mpg! But mine is a short commute and the engine is not warm for very long. On longer runs, its much better. I did a 300 mile round trip a few weeks ago and it was 95% motorways and that averaged 49mpg which I was very pleased with. I managed to squeeze 309 miles from that tank. I don't go above 60mph on the motorway. Make sure your tyre pressures are all correct, engine is well serviced and you should see some decent figures!
  14. Is it possible to get some more pics up of this arosa? I think the g60 wheels look great on it!
  15. Hi guys, Went to jump in the car tonight to come to work, fired up and then ran a bit rough and died. Tried to start it again and it did eventually fire up after holding the key for 6-7 seconds (which seems like an enormous amount of time when you're doing it). When it was running it seemed ok, not perfect but ok. Decided to leave the car at home incase I got stranded at work. Any ideas? What should I look for? Its been running fine and starting well. Yesterday I removed the air filter box to get at the spark plugs, but once I realised that I didn't have the correct spark plug tool, I put everything back together. I checked all the leads were back on the plugs properly too. Bit of a puzzler. Supposed to be taking the girlfriend to the new forest at the weekend....any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
