  1. cheers nfbr i knew i was getting it wrong but couldnt for the life of me remember what it was.
  2. yeah maf is the abbreviation but i thought they had a more correct name, unless im using th correct one. Ignore me lmao im sure you get the idea anyway
  3. Im unsure mate its a mine field trying to sort the wheat from the chaff regarding these bloody cars lmao
  4. mass air flow meter, its not the correct name but i cant for the life of me remember the right one, iv been flamed by nfbr for calling it a MAF in the past lmao Its in the air intake and i believe its wires that monitor the amount of air entering the engine (monitor moisture maybe im unsure) and the calculates the correct fueling. Anyone have a better explanation lmao?
  5. Cheers mate il have a read, dont like taking posts on forums as gospal so more opinions on it the better

    Lupo TDI...

My arosa tdi will be for sale this month, basic spec, fsh, r/c/l, elec windows, red, around 90k miles, gti interior, black carpets and plastics, colourcoded bumpers and £2,500 Oh and its £30 tax, unlike my new one lol
  7. the 3 plugs which the door loom plugs into inside the car, the control unit obv and itl be a case of finding the wires they attach to, could go to the scrappers and pull the plugs ect streight off the loom and connection block them to yours after taking pics of wire colours ect to replicate. Thats all i can think of and cant imagine it costing much, dont think that would be a prime bit of kit for them to sell lmao.
  8. saved 50quid there then cheers bud, its not like a petrol car its all about the turbo. You suggested to me a while back cuky to go for the pd100 turbo to get less lag on tdiclub, but a pd100 would never make enough boost if the pd130 turbo is almost on full boost. Whats max safe boost on a pd100 turbo? Whats your thoughts? Iv looked into the new gt turbos but manifolds look more effort than its worth due to diffrent flange and positioning.
  9. Iv heard that on the tdi's the oils used in the aftermarket filters damage the maf, dont know how true it is but its been mentioned many times on other forums. Anyone had experience of using one on a tdi over 40+k miles?
  10. from what i remember i PM'd her about it and it came with the car but was nice all the same worth a look
  11. Na its a wastegate mate people have problems with boost pipes on the tdi?
  12. yeah its the pd90/100/110 block minus a cylinder but the only diffrent block internals are the 90 A2 and the pd150 as they have diffrent pistons ect which can go in the 1.4 anyway. My bad on the fmic i didnt realise the boost required to make that power so i guess a better ic is a must then or water cooling with aquamist ect. There are 2 examples of these making 180bhp as i said, sanjay i think it is from india and the bloke on here from portugal. I wouldnt want more than 130, i like living lmao
  13. Thats the romanian lad Thanks for your input cuky its better from someone who has done it. A note on the FMIC if you used the 130 turbo and ran at 130 you wouldnt need a fmic (although the tdi already has one sort of) because the turbo is not running hotter than it was designed for. You will make the vnt spool pointless due to the larger volume unless you did a small core low slung fmic with very direct piping.
  14. Yeah itd be fine if you knew what your doing, i think the tuning the 1.4 could be done by a amature but i wouldnt like to do the engine swap. Theres a MK1 arosa running the 1.9 but i think its the older wastegate engine (aaz possably not sure, mk3 golf i think) and thats quick but only at 135 and he quotes 0-60 in the 6's. When 130 is doable with the lighter 1.4 block, gearbox ect and less cash i think its the better option. Il be mega happy with 0-60 in the 7's but theres more reasons for going vnt than that such as lag, mpg and drivability. Each to their own like and id love to see a 1.9 lupo/arosa mk2 but id stick with the 1.4 If it goes bang pick up a new engine for 700 quid and sell the bits off again to a pd100 tuner.
  15. but then you have the extra weight and alot more fabrication. I think the engine swap route is understimated regards its difficulty unless you have a fat wallet lol. Besides its been done time and time again, massive spec 1.9's
  16. Lol if you play your cards right and put plenty of thought into it/get a good parts man, then you can do it for less than you think. 1.8T has been done anyway many times might aswell have a go lol but then again a remap will suit most, strip some weight also and your laughing.
  17. pd130 setup with custom vnt control rather than the wastegate. Needs custom manifold, new exhaust, bigger injectors, bigger turbo obviously lol, an ecu reconfig (thats the issue theres no one i know of that does it in the UK), then a remap, better clutch, gearbox rebuild to be safe and look to strengthen it and longer gears if possible across the whole box. THEN i think depending upon how it drives LSD and all other supporting mods such as better brakes and handling to keep it on the road. Biggest diameter wheels the better to raise the grearing and for traction. Oh a new n75 valve for vnt control too and all asociated vacume piping. Theres a fair bit to it lol
  18. I will be doing this over the next few months and il take pics but as i say will be in a few months but it will be flat not an install, not into that. If you do it first get some pics up
  19. They are the 1.9 with a cylinder cut off, they are the same innards as the 1.9 too. I know of one running 130bhp in an A2 in the UK, a lupo with 130 in romania and a fabia running this engine at 180. They are strong enough but the gearbox isnt There my friends is your stumbling block but having said that get a decent remap and put plenty of thought into it and your away
  20. yeah i was going to get one from germany with the doors but now i have the doors it makes me less likley to go. I found a bonnet from CF but it was from madmotors or something and didnt look the part, also prob just a skinned steel frame which id rather not bother.
  21. It was always inevitable They arnt expencive mate get one from lupoboz hel sort you out.
  22. Cheers for that nfbr, iv got gti doors on mine and they are noticably lighter. I think its like 22kg each rather than 32kg each whatever they are there is a 10kg diff per door. you can deff feel the diffrence when your carrying them around! its just finding some thats the issue lol. The bonnet i think i read 6kg instead of 10 or along those lines. Im looking for a gti bonnet now and then il be a happy chap.
  23. your joking! iv got the headlining out for a retrim at the mo! dont tempt me lol
  24. If your into all that then it is ok but not for me. Cut the roof off and turn it into a bbq and im game
  25. Thats ace mate thanks for the write up, NFBR is looking at another possability at the mo for a few people but at least i now know theres an option out there for us! I wanted a white tdi so bad, also with open air but theres more chance of tina turner making me bangers and mash for tea
