  1. of course you can! the SDI is perfect you can buy a kit off ebay around £150
  2. thank you it was a great car! i have upgraded to a 2006 VW touran for the family lol and the maintenance continues
  3. So the end of an era. the lupo is sold thanks to everyone who contributed to the thread. unless the new owner wants to continue this then it can be closed much appreciated everyone
  4. i am very very south from you - it took me 10 years from my first lupo to get another so never say never
  5. i think you both might be right but i have 4 cars already and a little one on the way and its just not feasible unfortunately. i have used it as much as i can for everything i can throw at it but there comes a time when i need to get a larger car and that has happened now.
  6. The time has come to sell the lupo - a growing family means the car will not get used anymore. A replacement VW touran has been bought so this one is up for sale Will get a post up on facebook soon but the particulars are below in case anyone wants to send me a message. 2004 Volkswagen Lupo 1.7 SDI Pros: 4 Previous Owners 2 keys Full Service History New standard full exhaust system All brake hoses changed @ 130k Cambelt changed @ 150k Clutch changed @ 137k New glow plugs @ 146K Various new parts (Drop links, lower arms, arb bushes, ball joints) New brakes all around Potential new pedal box (common issue) Original handbook All tyres have great tread Spare soft blue front bumper Spare soft blue front indicator panel Spare rear drums Cons: Looks Tatty - Most panels have scratches Offside front wheel arch showing bubbling Rear offside quarter has a ding causing surface rust to appear Sunroof only works with engine off
  7. Nope. I have the same grade of oil and just do my oil changed every year. I’m on 172k now.
  8. Nothing new to report really. Ticking along nicely, managed to squeeze 33.89L Into my diesel tank and emptied it in around 440 miles which is the most I have stuck into the tank and the most amount of miles. It’s around 64mpg which is lovely.
  9. UPDATE: Hit a cool milestone today
  10. I will have to check when im in the new house. i still have VCDS lite and the little cable so i could check with your help im sure. i managed 400 miles until the petrol light has come on. currently on 420 so i need to fill up now i am very impressed
  11. I tell ya what though. Found the little air bleed nipple thing. Poked it with the petrol pump the last time I filled up. Might make it to 400 miles on this tank. Which is more than I ever have
  12. That’s very kind of you 90k is not even run in! I have a different front bumper and indicator panel to instal once I move into my new place so it should tidy up the front, and if I’m honest I need a front wing at some point as rust has started to bubble. Obviously I’ll update when this gets sorted. The weather seems to be on the change so I’ll be glad to get into a double garage very soon
  13. To be honest if i had an old classic car that might be the case , but lets be real the car is £500 at best. i love it for what it is , and i will always do my best to take care of it but it wont stop me from using it how i want to use it . it will never end up a chav mobile , just an honest reliable useable car.
  14. Secondly - i havent used my back seats in years, sometimes they are up for show.. but most of the time they are down. shopping, tip runs etc. so saw a guy on facey wanting some back seats so i did a swap and got some front seats from a GOLF ! i didnt have much time to give the car a proper clean or the seats a vac but they are in.. and i am loving it. Soooo much more comfy... and actually a lot lower... they can both go up and down, and even have lumbar support adjustment.. so very posh also proper headrests soo i am well chuffed.! In the future i will be flat boarding the rear like a van as it suits me, and with a house move and renovations it will become invaluable. In theory i should sell and buy a van but i cant part with this little beauty! Couple of pics. once in the new place ill do a proper clean up again as per previous attempts.
  15. UPDATE: So managed to achieve a quick few things this weekend which were never planned. Some of you will hate this but it works for me. Start with the good news first... been forever but secured a cheap cup holder so now my wife and i can enjoy a starbucks together haha! Cant believe i didnt sort this years ago!
  16. Hit it with a hammer and screwdriver. mission accomplished
  17. Yeah not sure why it’s tight. Never happened before. Can’t remember the last time I needed to top it off.
  18. Thanks. I like to keep it updated incase it appeals to anyone and the trials and tribulations that these little cars have. I hope if I was to ever sell it. The owner could check the cars history in my ownership. the grove I think must be a special tool incase it gets stuck like mine. I have tried a screwdriver but didn’t budge so I will attempt again on Wednesday as I need the car today and don’t want to be stranded at home if something went wrong.
  19. Got a new cap turnt up today. shame I will lose the little VW badge but hey Ho in the scheme of things what can we do.
  20. UPDATE: Ok so another year another Oil change. Finally got around to doing it. In the process of moving house so timing has been difficult. Mileage 169,100 ish still going strong also got a chance to look over my new exhaust from the MOT I did notice my coolant was low so went to top it up and the damn thing was on solid.. not even a hammer and chisel could shift it.. tried so many things to not damage it until the inevitable happened .. so i have ordered a new one and will get this one off without caring about damaging it. pictures below of the elite garage set up ha ha even had some new holts brake cleaner
  21. perhaps your right about the EGR - i wouldnt even know how to check.. pretty sure it was new or cleaned a few years back before i got the car
