Ah well, I guess I'll make a best guess with measuring it and seeing how it goes... I had to grind the head off the nozzle securing screw on one side - as expected, reading the forum - so will use a stainless hex-head screw to replace it and grease up the other side... Thanks for the info - is ETKA available to all, even as a paid service? Paul

I've looked on ETKA and it is a seal that only comes with the whole unit, which is a pain as they are obsolete from VW now.

Good morning all, Does anyone have an OEM part number (or new o-ring dimensions) for the seal on the extending part of the headlamp washer nozzle unit? I'm just refitting a new A/C condenser and compressor to fix a leaking heat exchanger and, replace a 20-odd year old compressor seal whilst everything is in bits. I do however, need to replace the o-ring in the nozzle to stop a leak from there when it's used but the old one is too worn to measure correctly. Is there somewhere online a parts catalogue for the Lupo that people are using?? Thanks! Paul

Just keep checking/topping up through the speedo pickup hole... cheap and cheerful solution that buys you time.

If anyone has an old gti ball joint and a set of calipers, can we do some measuring? We might be onto something here that'll help gti owners the world over...

Diff Flange Green Sleeve
BlobbyBrown replied to BlobbyBrown's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
For those looking at this; I changed out the oil seal at the weekend. The oil seal sits at the front of the green sleeve so if the sleeve is excessively damaged then you will most likely need a new sleeve. You can remove the oil seal without removing the green sleeve. Mine [the sleeve] was damaged but managed to refit with a new seal; hopefully no more leaks, but we'll have to monitor as the outer edge of the oil seal was showing in places. I did order a new sleeve for a POLO from the US but it doesn't arrive until June! (now April), so hoping it all holds out until at least then. Regards Rob -
The part numbers on the 9N ball joints are 6Q0 407 365M and 6Q0 407 366M Which is very similar to the Lupo Gti part numbers of 6E0 407 365 and 6E0 407 366 Although admittedly i'm no expert on the part numbers and what each letter/number represents, would this not suggest that they are pretty much one and the same? They do look identical to me

Brilliant thanks for the advice guys all went well. However seems like I've managed to mess the tracking, camber and caster angles.. how do I get them back in the ball park so I can get it set up properly.
-
Yeah, the arms are different- the inner bit where the bushes are. The ball joint end is the the exact same on all.

Seems like a lot of rare car for the price but why are the photos so terrible (looks like screenshots from camera roll?) and no interior shots 🥴 -
Spotted for sale -Anthracite lupo GTi (not mine)
lupogtiboy replied to sj2112's topic in Cars for Sale
This guy lives about a mile from me, I can vouch for this Lupo, it is as clean as he says in his description, and if I had a spare £7k, I'd buy it! -
Is the lower arm the same on the 6n2? And they maybe make up any other difference in all 3 with the ball joint?

Having changed the clutch (see other thread), looks like I've either damaged or exacerbated a leak on the RHS Diff Driveshaft seal. The Green Sleeve that I think is part 084301192, around the flange - Is that independent of the oil seal. I've order the seal but it didn't have the sleeve attached and looks like the green sleeve is now obselete and like hen's teeth to get hold of. Just thinking am I going to have a problem changing the seal on it's own or should I be able to remove the oil seal remove the sleeve, fit new seal and refit existing green sleeve as it provides no real purpose?! Cheers Rob

Took some pics- comparing a 9N and a 6X... I don't have a gti ball joint, but I can take some measurements and we can compare on here?

I got mine from vw but then I haven't used it since I fitted them years ago.

Clutch change - multiple issues
ObjectiveAway replied to BlobbyBrown's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
I think thats from Polo. You can use larger diameter nut instead of a lot of washers to fill up the space. -
Oh look, I'm talking to myself on the other ball joint thread. See my answer on that one for more info. Got mine on Ebay but messaged first to make sure I was getting exactly what was listed.
