i have just driven the car home from where we bought it (about 30 miles) and a mile from gettin it home an orange/yellow warning light appeared on the dash, after looking into the manual ive found out this is an exhaust emissions warning. i have now read through various threads on here and other sites and im assuming its either a lambda prob or the egr valve, any one got any other suggestions and has this happened to them. other than that the car is running and driving fine. although it is a bit shakey on idle but sorts itself out when revs rise a tiny bit. also the temp gauge cuts in and out from working to not working im just guessing its a loose wire. other than that its ALOT of fun to drive. :D just got to sort out some little niggles.

she drove the car for the first time today and she really likes the way it drives. she used to drive a ford ka but sadly that got written off in january. (some one slid into it in the snow) I think she likes driving the lupo because she learnt to drive in an arosa and its pretty much the same car isnt it?

As for the technical issues i took the air box off today and sprayed carb/throttle cleaner into the butterfly as it was completely coked up, the air box has a fair bit of oil in the top of the box i think the breather is sucking in oil. i also took the car up to veedub live which is a vw specialist run by a mate of mine and he got the diagnostics on it and he said that it was just the carbon build up clogging the butterfly in the inlet, all reset now and driving fine :) so fingers crossed thats all it was.

have ordered my first part for it yesterday which is a set of aero wiperblades due to the ones on it being sh*t. :) should have some pics up within the next few days :)

Thats great :)

Glad she is enjoying her new car! I was considering a KA as a second choice...

I won't pretend I understand the technical details lol as I will probably have to get my b/f to help me with all that sort of things and stuff :)but good to hear its running ok :)

i liked the ka but it wasnt as refined as the lupo, very nosey and basic inside. It did handle really well tho and was fun to drive, the design is getting old now tho and she didnt want the same car again.
