  1. Yes we did, dint take any pics but to do it you turn down the height of the TT bush, then make some spacer washers to make the height of the TT bush match the original Lupo bush. The centre whole of the TT bush is of smaller diameter than the Lupo one. The Lupo has such a large whole to take into account the sub-frame varies in position onto the car body. It can move quite a bit believe it or not. Because the TT bush is made from aluminium I did not want to drill it out to match the Lupo’s diameter as this i feel would weaken the bush too much. To get around this i trial fitted the control arms then filled it at an angle of about 1 degree off the centre aluminium until it fitted. on my car the sub-frame was not far our, one side didn't require any filling the other just 1 millimetre in one corner. Then fit it all back together as you would normally do, torque up the bolts. The drivers side one is hard because of the sump been in the way. The trial and error was well worth the end results. If any one want the actual dimension just ask!
  2. I made them fit not a big deal really same external diamater! and the results are amazing not crashy like powerflex and not soggy like standard. a great mod at 30 ish quid.

  4. Spend the extra coin then, buy the Bilstein dampers, I doubt you will regret buying them. That said I would speak to Koni. The rear dampers have the same part number across the entire Lupo range. The front struts from a lesser model may have the same damping rates and rebound adjustability, but you get the whole sealed strut on purchase. That’s another option
  5. Replacing the inserts required no special tools I simply nipped the strut leg in the vice and used an adjustable pipe wrench to simply unfasten the securing cap. It was no big deal, if you can take off the strut you should not have much of a problem removing the cap, potentially the most difficulty you could have is the potential for the cap been rusted on, but some plus gas and determination and it should not be too much of a problem. You seem to be swaying to the Koni’s, I wouldn’t let the insert put you off, its just something you have to work around like everything else when working on the car.
  6. I could be wrong, but my mk2 golf is just the same. I bought the koni inserts. To fit then I simply unscrewed a cap that held the original damper. (At the bottom near the spring perch). Then put the new koni insert in its place. It took an extra 15 mins a side if that. So if the Lupo is the same I see no problem. As for the decision between koni or bilstien. I have had koni yellow dampers in my golf mk2 years and have been very impressed, not to harsh on the road set at the softest and can be cranked up easily when needed. I have never used bilstien, but you rarely hear a bad work for them Hope this helps

  8. I don't no if its the absolute truth, but there is a company called wide wheels that bands wheels and gives you a certificate for approval for the road. They will make the wheel band up to 5" wide and charge around £350 for a set modifying. Then you have to get them painted yourself below is a link to their site http://www.wide-wheels.co.uk This seems to be a ideal solution but is it worth £350 of hard earned cash any how its a option for the future after lowering Enjoy
  9. To turn it off simply hold the trip meter button with the ignition off for 5 seconds, then turn on the ignition still holding the button. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds for it to remove the service interval display when the ignition is on. That's it Hope this help
  10. I can sympathise with you, I can just feel the frustration with the dealers you have building and building. I have a similar problem my pedal box had gone before I bought the car. The last owner had a bodge of a weld fix, which has led to another clutch to be worn away because it must not have been disengaging fully. When I bought the car I immediately had a new clutch fitted under a one month warranty I got with the car. Then I learn of the weld job so I go to the dealer asking for a new pedal box fitting free of charge. Their response is because my pedal box has been tampered with its no longer a v dub problem. I can sort of see where they are coming from, but if they had designed the box right to start with, the last owner wouldn't have had to have a bodge job. Now I'm stuck with a car with a clutch pedal approximately ¾ inch lower than my brake pedal. I have two options wait to see if it eats another clutch or splash out on a new pedal box fitting. A new pedal box fitted cost a few hundred quid the dealer says. Of which they are not willing to pay. So my opinion of the dealer has just taken a hit. VW gained its following back in the day for making tough reliable cars, with a dealer network that cared. Now I don't know what to think. Keep posting fella don't let it get you down. I would just keep complaining and complaining, maybe even call the 0800 number for VW UK see what they have to say. Hopefully they will give you the money back.

    Hey there everyone im new to the forum game and the lupo seen as well Just bought a 1.4 s lupo as a daily driver Have to say they are much more quieter than my golf mk2, which is not a bad thing That said i have had no look with it so far: to list a few The cam shaft position sensor went<br>I had to have a new clutch and clutch cable fitted as it was grating like mad days after purchase (fitted on warranty) My cam belt has jumped at least on tooth putting the exhaust timing out resulting in the need for a new cam belt kit then to my horror reading the pedal box post, I found that my pedal box has had a bodge of a welding job and isn't aligned correctly resulting in the need for a new pedal box to stop premature clutch wear. (this is the cars third clutch in 57thow) An then to put a knife in my back the dealer won't pay cos someone before me has tampered with it. and finally i have had a nail go through the tyre So in all i have had no luck, but as a volky devotee i will persist Thanks for the look David
