weedy
My off side headlight went on my gti a few months back. I ordered new bulbs an had them fitted. Which didn't repair the problem. Not really knowing what to do I took it to a vw garage for a diagnosis. They told me that the ballast had gone an it was going to be £900 to fix. A little out of my price range I've been looking for second hand ones on eBay. I've found one which I nearly ordered, but I read in the description that it didn't include ballast. Can anyone enlighten me on what it is I actually need? And what do you think I should do? Times running out as my MOT is up at the end of the month! Sorry to go on abit... Thanks weedy Edited January 4, 2013 by weedy
Defcon5
The ballast is a box that houses the electrics (transformer, igniter etc) for the bulbs. It is separate to the headlight housing itself.Never took mine apart so can't really help you with the specifics
VolkswagenDan
You should be able to find a set with ballasts for £300/£350 on here and elsewhere. You'll be able to find it in time. Don't pay £900. Please.
