Daryl Mechanic
I'm a mechanic and my little brother in law has asked me to look at a Lupo 1.4 Sport that he wants to buy.It looks a really nice car only issue I could spot was an oil leak. But I couldn't see where its coming from so I wanted to see if you guys who know these cars inside out i'm sure could shed some light on it.- Its on the rear side of the engine.- You can see the stain where its been leaking onto where the gearbox meets the engine. Right near the starter motor.- There seemed to be fresh wet oil on the underside of the throttle body.- It has the metal inlet manifold on this model and the throttle body sits above the starter motor.Anyone got any ideas?I ran my fingers around the head gasket line and didn't find any oil so I don't think its that, but it is cramped around the back and I couldn't get my fingers into all of it.I'm going to go back with a torch and mirror today and would appreciate your thoughts as I don't know vw's at all. Defcon5
I think the oil pressure switch is around there
scirocco
Our 12 year old 1.4s has had a similar leak for the last 5 years dosent seem to effect engine oil level and the gearbox oil seems stable so at a loss where it comes from bloody annoying though as we have an oil stained drive now lol
