Defcon5
Thats not the seatbelt light, its the airbag fault light
RobG
And to get rid you'll need to get your car scanned, the codes read (which will tell you what's wrong with it) and then reset. If it's still an issue then the light will probably come back on again. It's commonly caused by disconnecting an airbag (seats or steering wheel) and turning the ignition on. wilbur14
Reckon a diagostic garage would sort it out ? And does this mean if i crash , my heads going straight into the steering wheel with no airbag ?
RobG
Should be able to, and yes, the system is usually disabled when the light is on (similar to abs system, although at least your brakes work normally when that light's on)

durao
The same happened to me when I removed the instrument panel to fix the zero mile button. I did fix it but the airbag error light lit up and stayed on until I erased the error on the airbag control unit using VAGCOM 409.1.Thank you and all the repliers for your posts, which did help me finding the solution.
