Stiff gears :S

Hi guys,

My cars been off the road since August as my cambelt went. Ive just had a new engine fitted but my gearbox is not really stiff and it takes alot of effort to get it in gear......The garage who fitted the engine said this was due to the car sitting for months, does this sound right?!?

Anyone had the same issue? How can I fix it?!?

Any help, greatly recieved.

alright chap. mines like that, but i dont drive mine much, ive been told its because its either low on gearbox oil, or my selector is going. So try topping up the gearbox oil, alot cheaper ahaha

Hi Ash, cheers for the info buddy. Sorry to sound like a noob but is it straight forward to change the gearbox oil and any specific oil to use?!?

but my gearbox is not really stiff

So is it stiff or not stiff? It could well be bacause the linkages have seized up whilst its been stood, so it may losen up after a few miles

I beleive its a 75w-90 in all Lupos but not positive.

Hello mate, sorry thats a typo, it was suppose to say 'now', cheers for the help on the oil.
