Mafyou
My car makes a noise like an old car horn, sounds like it's dying It usually starts first time but it will always make this noise a moment after startingSometimes I'll try to start it and it will just make the noise and after a couple turns of the ignition it will be fine, and run fineAlso, when idling it sounds a bit rough/bumpy, it just sounds uneven but does'nt really show on the needleIt occasionaly revs up to 2 then when it hits it, it goes slowly back downAnd when I rev it when idling it looks like it's a little slow to go back down to 1Not sure if any of that is connected??Sorry for the big read!! Any help is much appreciated
angelo77
Most likely the starter motor, if it's a screech type sound and only happens when it starts, I would be pretty certain this is the case, rough idling, when was the time it was serviced?Regards Angelo
Mafyou
It was serviced in January, all filters, plugs, ht leads and oil changeThanks
kabman
The starter motor noise is a common problem. Probably the bush in the gearbox is worn.
Mafyou
Bush in the gearbox??
kabman
Bush in the gearbox??The end of the starter motor shaft is supported by a bush pressed into the gearbox casing. If it's wears it'll make a 'squawk' noise as the starter motor stops.
