the car will do this every so often, you just have to drive a few hundred metres and it tests your brakes (the weird nose etc). then it recalculates the abs system and lets you continue normally, if the brake binding stops after the light goes off then dont worry, its fine. Otherwise if the brakes stay binding, have it looked at.

Sounds like an issue relating to signal fault from one of the wheel speed sensors. ABS controller thinks the wheel is locking so pulses the pedal.

Could be the sensor, pickup ring, controller or wiring. Good money it will be a sensor which is around £8 on eBay, but you need VAG-COM to tell you which one it is.

Others have had this issue.

the pedal shouldnt give you any sort of pushing back unless the abs is cutting in. from what your describing i would agree youve got a problem with a pick up ring or sensor. its giving a signal saying a wheel is locking up when its not and the abs is working when it shouldnt. vagcom should fault it or it may need an oscilloscope reading on all sensors to check the wave forms and see which is not right.
