Break issue

Hey,

my brakes are starting to do my head in! has brand new disks and pads on, but they are really spongy. Its a 1.7 SDI and done 91,000 miles. My guess is they need bleading through, any other things that might be wrong with them?

Also I want to upgrade them as the car is awful at stopping, would the GTI brakes suit?

cheers

Charlie

I would take it on a hard drive, and try to work the brakes hard... Might not have bedded in, this can lead to a spongy pedal, but it's more likely that there is air in the system, if you cant do it yourself, a garage could probably sort that very easily.

As for upgrades, some decent fast road pads would be a good bet, have a look down the tuning section for threads on upgrading brake pads.
