Question: what's a thrust bearing...

Its a bearing on the clutch release arm. Its not "in" the gearbox but you have to take the gearbox off to change it.

If its faulty it's usually noisy, Its either noisy when clutch is pressed and stops when released, or the other way round . can't remember.

its the first option - sounds like a metallic rattle when clutch down (cheers ross tongue.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />) .... you have to take the box out to change it apparently.. mine might be on the way out as I have all the symptons (after nurburgring) but might be solved by just a new clutch
