Irregular idle speed

Check the brake vacume pipe for splits and make sure there are no air leaks where it goes into the

brake servo. Also check the purge valve solenoid from the carbon canister they can get stuck open.

Both things will let air into the engine that has not been calculated for by the ECU so it can cause a slight engne

overrun. The ECU i asume then cuts back on the fuel to compensate for the higher rpm and nearly stalls the engine.

Could be something else but that is where i would first look. Looking on VAG-COM for a fault code is only helpfull

if there is a fault code to find.

Yes, but if there is a air leak, vag-com will show a MAP sensor signal fault, or if the purge valve is not actuating.... Not just fault codes.

Computer showed wiring fault on temp sensor and fault with wiring Lambda sensor. ( emissions light is now on :-( )

Misfire is showing up as a ignition lead faulty. So thats sorted?

Anyone know how to test the wires?

The Lambda and temp sensor are working it's the damn wiring now!

Don't be so sure it is the wires, change sensors first.
