L4RRY
It's been doing it for ages now.. Like a fairly loud howling noise coming from the front half of my car when I hit about 50/60mph.It doesn't get any louder or higher pitched with speed but the pitch does drop when I reach below 60 again.I've got my girlfriend to check her side of the car and we know it's neither the windows or the air vents.. I'm also pretty sure it's not the engine.Has anyone had the same problem or know what might be wrong?Any help's good Thanks!
Defcon5
I think failing gearboxes can cause a whine, does it do it in all gears/rev ranges?
L4RRY
I think failing gearboxes can cause a whine, does it do it in all gears/rev ranges?Generally 4th/5th between between 3-5000rpm.. It doesn't go away when I press the clutch at high speed though. It seems more speed determined as opposed to rev..Thanks

cobblers
Mine does the same, and has done it over 4 different sets of wheels. It's worse at 60, and goes away by about 75.Mine sounds quite "wheel-bearingy" but they seem fine, I'd just assumed it was probably due to the car being so low that the CV joints are working at a silly angle and its causing the shafts to vibrate. It's not got any worse in 10k miles though.
