Rear Wiper removal / De-wipering

Recommended Posts

I've noticed a lot of questions about rear wiper removal, so here is a quick photo walk through of these brilliant cheap mod.

in regards to MOT's; if you haven't got a rear wiper then it cant be tested.

its only if you have a rear wiper that doesn't work that you fail.

You will need:

10mm socket (or spanner)

14mm spanner

Stardriver

Pack of 3 Blanking Gromits from halfords (you need the 25mm one '#HFX321')

pull the wiper cap cover off (it hinges to one side) and undo the exposed nut (14mm)

give the wiper a twist and pull and remove that too.

with the boot open look in the 'pockets' of the boot lining to find a torxscrew/starnut

I can't actually remember which size it is I think it was T20 or T25

the boot liner is then attached with as number of clips. these should 'pop' out. as with all new cars they have a tendency to brake. be firm with them but do it systematically. ( picture below shows location of all 'pop clips')

Undo the 3 10mm bolts on the exposed wiper motor. the bolts are attached to the wiper motor so wont come right the way off. so just loosen them to the end of their thread. once the bolts are slack remove the motor.

remove the electric cable and the washer jet hose. tuck the cable up inside the boot somewhere and stick a blob of silicone in your washer hose, or relocate it so that it squirts any cars behind you.
