minijay
This is difficult to explain, but when driving along, I can hear a constant scraping noise. When i take my foot off the accelerator, the scraping sound seems to judder... then continue, much like the sound of a Racing Mk1 Mini... I guess some of you will understand? However, when I put my foot down on the clutch and take it out of gear whilst moving, the noise disappears and all is silent and smooth, put it back into gear, scraping noise surfaces again. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now... but 2 days ago the orange warning light on the dash came on, and has been on ever since. It seems to be an engine with a lightning bolt through it and "CHECK" written underneath. I would check my handbook to see what this means but, errm, I dont have one, and finally, in the past 2 days, whilst accelerating, I can have my foot on the floor in 2nd gear... and it will accelerate slugglishy, then quite abruptly, then slugglish again, giving for a very jerky drive. Any help?My car is a 2002 VW Lupo 1.0E
Mike_M
Sounds like gearbox issues to me.....not the clutch as you say it only happens when its engaged in gear.Get the box checked out before any more damage is caused driving it. Til then Ill have to put up with 150 miles to a tank in a 1.0E, and an annoying scraping sound wherever I drive.
