RafaelFCCastro
Hello everyone! New member and new Lupo owner. Recently bought a 2003 1.4 44kW Lupo and was wondering about some recommendations for a quick maitenance, as I am also getting a misfire in the first cylinder. Therefore, I would like to ask which spark plugs, ht leads and coil pack is it more commonly used in this model? I am having a bit of an hard time finding suggestions for this exact model (most go for 1.0, 1.4 16v, etc), therefore I am creating a new topic. Excuse me if this topic becomes redundant. If any of you point me to an already existing one, I will therefore delete this one. Thanks!
mk2
Not usually plugs. They last almost forever. More likely coil pack or an HT lead (if your model has them?). Try swapping around and see if the misfire moves. Not injectors either. Could be a manifold leak. Pic of plugs?

Thanks for the quick reply! I will try to gather some pictures. Today I took a closer look to the coil pack and the ht leads. Indeed I want to change the ht leads, as they seem to have the incorrect length (they do not fit nicely into the parking spaces in the engine cover - they seem a bit to streched as well). This is not happening on the complaining cylinder though. Regarding the leaks, indeed I hear what for me is an unusual noise, but is the first Lupo I drive and I wouldn't be surprised if its just the noise of an older car. Also, in previous MOTs it has been found "Exhaust not gas thight", but nothing on this last one though, I was hoping it was probably resolved. On the engine bay, I do not hear any hissing sound, my friend told me on the side there was quite noticeable though, will give it a shot! Also want to had that I only notice when on idle, as it seems a bit tough to me, but it is not even enough for the rev indicador to drop and it never gets to the point of almost shutting down. Also, on normal driving it is unoticeable Edited November 29 by RafaelFCCastro
RafaelFCCastro
Anyways, I will leave here the first surprise I had, after buying this car: When I made the agreement to buy it, the "Check engine light" was already ON. I checked with the seller (local car shop) if he had noticed it, which he said no. The car was driving well and only has 116k km, so I also took the shot. Forward on the timeline, I go there to take the car, MOT all OK without any issues, light not the there, really happy customer. It was late in the evening, rainy day. Next day morning, more light and I find the engine light indeed resolved: covered with black paint 😁 Already in talks with the vendor, that claims he was also scammed, as it was diagnosed in an external shop, but who knows....I have an agreement to take the care there for. It to be correctly resolved and I am taking more precautions on prossible further scams, will keep a sharp eye and, of course, update you guys!
