mdwilliams
Hi there. Just wanted some advise on what to do about my 2001 Lupo, 1.4 16v 75bhp. I’m having trouble getting the EML off. Got a code for P1174, Bank 1, fuel measuring system, Injection Timing Deviation. I’ve replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and the injectors. I’d already replaced one of the O2 sensors already, long before this started. I’ve also replaced the secondary CAT as it was already falling apart. Not sure what else I can replace apart from the Charcoal canister, the crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor. Many thanks Micheal
mk2
It might be more than one problem... fuel and timing are not usually related. Fuel "might" be the classic coolant temp sensor failure. Every vdub related car from about '97 to '07 has had a failure at some point. That luxembourg company should have gone out of business... grrr. Although, could be a manifold leak, where air is getting in somewhere so the mix is leaning out- and the ecu is noticing and trying to compensate. I've even seen the brake vacuum servo and line fail causing the same result. Or like you say, could be the charcoal canister or valve. Just block up the suction line to check. There is a fuel pressure regulator, but they don't fail that often (keeps the fuel pressure constant no matter what the fuel pump is up to). Timing is most likely to be either the crank sensor or cam sensor (does that engine have one? Can't remember...). They are a common failure too. Or loose plug/wire. mdwilliams
Hi thanks for replying. I replaced the coolant temp sensor about a year ago when I first got the car as the temp gauge didn’t work. I have got a slight exhaust leak around one of the clamps on the secondary cat, but it’s very minor, I’ve tried taking the clamp as tight as I dare and makes no difference. With the brake servo, would that be the vacuum lines or the servo itself?? Or both?? I’ll have to check the charcoal canister but I have replaced the little solenoid on that line. I believe it just has a Crank sensor.
