Ralphch97
Hello, was woundering if someone could help! Pretty much I was driving, pressed the brake to stop and heard like a click!I got home and the brake light was staying on! I pulled the brake pedal up and it goes off! But to keep it off I have to pull it up in to position!Surely brake pedals shouldn't be able to be pulled up anyway? Was woundering if anyone had any ideas, I.e, brake light switch, brake pedal retainer clip? Thanks!Ralph! Pete
I'd be tempted to say check mounting brackets for your switch, obviously your switch is working as your lights go on and off, so it's possible you've damaged something that's holding the switch in the correct position. I think on those you can pull the plastic end out of the switch, it's on like a ratchet thing, so you could try pulling it out all the way, resting the brake pedal on it and seeing if that sorts you problem. Ralphch97
Thanks for the help, after work today I checked the mounting bracket, all seems good, then I took the switch out and pulled the plastic end out, I reinstalled the switch and every time I let the pedal up to reset the switch adjustment it just pushes the plastic end of the switch in so I'm guessing the ratchet mechanism has broken in the switch?A new switch has been ordered and should be with me either tomorrow or Friday so hopefully I will find out then!
