Hi all, I have a 1.4s manual. Recently I have been quite a stiff 1st gear. It doesn’t seem to want to get into 1st when stationary. It can get into first when moving but it’s still quite hard. There’s no grinding. sometimes it even struggles to get into second. It selects 1st fine when the car is off but when it’s on it doesn’t like it. I’ve read it could be a synchro or worn pinion from people with similar problems, does anything stick out to you guys? I’ve read this: has anyone on here done this before and have any tips or pictures of what they’ve done? im trying to get this done myself before I pop it down to f1 auto and get bankrupted for a gearbox rebuild. Anything would be appreciated, Thanks, Dru!

Right guys. I've made up a spreadsheet within Excel that'll allow you to see the speed output in MPH at a given rev amount in any gear. I'd upload it to this but I honestly haven't a clue how! All I need is the ratios for the GTi 5 speed Box then it'll have both of the GTi boxes on it. I'm also inputting the lower down gear boxes in, so the 1.0,1.4, 1.4Sport, 1.4 tdi, 1.7SDi. If anyone has a copy of the gear and final drive ratios then that would be super if you could send them over! Many thanks! Matt

Hi there, I'm looking to buy 2nd hand GTI alloys for my 1.4, is there anyone with any for sale? I've looked on classifieds but just thought I'd ask on the forums! preferably in decent condition and colour doesn't matter! thanks from Lewis
