  1. The switch was originally low down (beside the heated rear window switch I think) , it was moved to the top of the dash about mid 2000.
  2. Forgot about that one . Owned my Lupo for over 9 years and have had to replace the leads twice (seem to last about 4 years)
  3. Rear drum brakes can squeal . May only need cleaning . As simple as taking the drums off and tapping them on the ground to get the brake-dust out .
  4. Sounds like the door strap. Is the noise only when in neutral ? Sounds more like a gearbox issue ?
  5. Oil leak from around the back of the gearbox. We had noticed small spots of oil on the ground sometimes when the car was parked up for a day or 2 . Gearbox oil smells of cat-pee BTW.
  6. I just wondered was there a definitive solution to a non-functioning lights-on warning buzzer. Mine isnt working and hasnt for some time . I noticed lots of threads with people suggesting that it could be the sensor on the door lock . But my light comes on OK when the door is opened ,and the fuel pump primes OK , so would that suggest the sensor is fine ? I have a 1.0 E so no central locking or alarm . There was also a mention of the buzzer itself being behind the clocks . Is it easily accessible and easily and cheaply replaced ? Is there a seperate fuse for this ? Thanks
  7. Can you remember what fuse it was ? The pictures on the lid aren't helpful
  8. I recently had to replace the window wiper mechanism on my car , and searching through other posts it appears to be a common problem . Base was about £45 and the 2 rods were about £5 each. Took about 30mins to fix , easy job. With regards to the rear washer leak , on mine I noticed it was wet under the rear seats . Just took off the side trim panel and clicked the 2 parts of the pipe together , seems to have held for now (about 5 years). Also there can be leaks from the drivers door and sometimes the passenger door , think it leaks in through the speakers ? The seal round the gearbox selector rod also appears to be a common problem. Raise up car , take off pass side mudflap , remove pass side front wheel , take off filler plug , take off drain plug , drain oil , refit drain plug , undo bolt on bottom of gear stick , remove bottom of gearstick from rod , take out seal , put new seal in , refit gear stick to rod , refill gearbox , refit filler plug , refit mudflap , refit wheel.
  9. The indicator stalk on my Lupo has been "wobbly" for a while now but now it wont self cancel if I'm indicating left (its OK with right). Is this a common problem with Lupos , is there a cheap and easy fix ?
  10. The gearbox on my Lupo is leaking and I noticed quite a few posts on here about the selector rod seal . I've bought the seal but wondered if anyone had a tutorial on how to change it . Is it an easy job to do for a DIY mechanic ?
  11. Does anyone know what gearbox oil it needs ? Cheers
  12. If a car is sold as seen or otherwise , any major problems have to be made clear to the buyer BEFORE money changes hands . It has to be "fit for purpose" .
  13. Would anyone happen to know where the refill/check plug is on the gearbox for the 1 litre Lupo . I've searched a few posts on here but they seem to only mention the 1.4/1.6 . I presume its the same ? My box is whining in 5th gear so I want to check the level as I 'm guessing its low ?
  14. Cheers fellas . Ordered NGK iridium .
  15. Any idea what plugs would fit a 1.0L Lupo with the AUC engine . Halfords only list the earlier engines , and I 've tried eBay but again I cant find any for the later engines .
  16. I've noticed small patches of oil beneath my car some mornings . I think it could be a gearbox leak as it seems to be around that area . Is this a common problem on Lupos ? Is it likely to be a big job to fix ? Can I top up my oil until it gets left in , what type of oil do I use and where is the filler hole ? Many thanks in advance .
  17. Where abouts is the pollen filter located on a 1litre . I was told it was behind the cover at the bottom of the windscreen , but I cant find it .
  18. Quick question . How do you take the engine cover off a 1.0L . I assume the air filter is hidden under here as thats what I'm hoping to get changed . Cheers
  19. Oakey doakey . Was told by someone it MAY be a temperature sensor , but I'll check the airfilter .
  20. Recently the revs in my 1.0L have been "flickering" . Revs seem to drop down and then go up again every few seconds when idling . Only seems to do this when cold . Anyone any ideas ?
  21. Some people are a bit harsh but everyone has their opinions . Exhaust is `back-box` only , original box was cut off and new one welded on to the centre pipe .
  22. I'm a she by the way ! Exhaust is just an aftermarket replacement for original `back-box` , fits onto existing mountings .
  23. Yes the spoiler does hit off the aerial but hopefully I'll be geting the aerial modified .
