    Weight loss

I want the sub.. i'm building it into the spare wheel compartment so no box.. I also have a lightweight amp. Just trying to get the right balance!

    Weight loss

I'm sure there's a thread about this somewhere already, but just wondering what, if anything you guys have done in the way of weight loss? I'm about to install my sub, amp etc which'll obviously add a bit of unwanted stress. I've thought about taking out rear seats, replacing grills with mesh.. (all obvious things) Any of you thought of/done anything different? Would be good to know.. Cheers!

    1.4E vs 1.4 Sport

Surely they both have 1.4 16v engines made by VW So where does that extra 25bhp come from? What's extra or what have they tuned? Just be interesting to know! Larry

    Turbooooo.

Can you buy a turbo for any Lupo 1.4?
  7. I've been looking at my engine bay and can't see much room for an induction kit.. Or even the air filter! I was thinking about a Green Cotton but obvisouly they don't make them small.. Just thinking some pictures of whereabouts yours are placed would be helpful.. Either that or links/suggestions etc Thanks Larry
  8. I had a quick look through the Barry Boys site.. Seriously couldn't choose a 'favourite' Google it though, can't beat their 'members cars' section for laughs! Larry

    Engine Bays

You mean hose kits etc..? I was looking for similar thing and found nothing.. Hopefully this thread will busy up!!
  10. Cheers guys, really helped.. Managed to pinch some turtle wax and tar remover from my mums car cleaning kit, took the 1.4 badge off, looking good until it started to chuck it down Guess it means i've got the Lupo badge to do on another "sunny" day Thanks though! Larry
  11. Though i'm sure a few people will argue "you get what you pay for" i'd reccomend the Pioneer! They're a respectable brand, easy to use, easy on the eye and you won't be breaking the bank! I've had Pioneer for the past 2 years (various models) and have never had any trouble! The touch screen headunit is a pretty cool concept, but unless you're parked and watching DVD's it could get pretty irritating and fiddly whilst driving.. Especially tyring to flick through stations, adjust EQ etc! So yeah.. hope that helped! Larry
  12. Nice one, i'll check them all out today Thanks!
  13. When I hit about 70mph I hear a whistling noise.. not really high pitched but getting pretty loud at times! It doesn't always happen.. seems pretty random and like it's coming from the front right of the car.. I'm pretty sure it's not the in car 'blowers' nor is it a gap in the window!? Anyone had the same problem? Thanks, Larry!
  14. Right i've de-badged a few cars now but always tend to check how the badges are attatched Looks like the rear 'lupo' letters and the '1.4' are just stuck on with some sort of adhesive and will come off with a bit of heat and wire? Anyone about that could confirm this please? Also any tips for de-badging the lupo would be apprciated! thanks! (i'm sure there must have been a similar thread in the past, a link would be handy if so)
  15. If you look in your manual it'll tell you which wire on your headunit loom is the remote wire (usually blue) It might be worth trying to clip both remote wires together (with little blue wire joining clips) so whatever signal runs through the loom will also run through the remote wire. Hence when you turn your headunit off, the amps remote wire will also recieve this signal and turn off. I suggest you buy another remote wire to do this with so you don't have slits and cuts in the current one if it goes wrong.. Worked for me though!
  16. The instruction manual really isn't helpful Definately the hardest stereo i've tried to remove!! Put the stereo keys in the slot... do you lift, squeeze or pull? Can't believe i'm asking this, but help!!

    FTO seats

I'm not sure about the airbag resistor.. However, you can use the original VW subframes, you'll just need to weld the buckets to 'em! Not really a simple job but well worth the effort! If you decide not to do it i'm sure someone on here would snap the seats up quickly, save you making an Ebay account!
  18. Thought I'd have seen more of this, but has anyone here just lowered the front of their car? Obviously it wouldn't do much performace wise, but for styling? Would be cool to see some pics if so!
  19. More a complaint than a cry for help.. Picked my Lupo up today and I actually loved it! However, I'd done no more than 10 miles when the engine began to misfire, the engine light came on and the whole thing went dead! BRILLIANT! Mr Green Flag came to the rescue, reckons it was wet ares within the engine left from the recent valet! (just needs to dry out) Hopefully it'll sort out just gotta have the engine light reset tomorrow.. unwanted efffort Got paid today though.. Any first mod ideas.. I'm stuck? Larry
  20. Hmm, I've had that, not on this car though - look out for it when driving up hill, it can often occur then. If you've checked the basics you might want to get a garage to look at your fuel pump if it keeps happening.. You say you were on your way to college.. in the morning? It's a long shot but with damp/wet nights your catlyst may not have been able to push all the excess moisture through the engine! That happened to me before aswell, sorts itself out just need to get the engine light reset! Larry
  21. Looking around, the centre exit seems.. Popular! Then again i've seen lupos with no visible pipe atall and that also looks pretty goood! Thanks for the advice mate
  22. It depends - Are you looking for a crystal clear sound or do you just want something to beef up the back end of you sound? Maybe start looking at headunits with the correct number of pre-outs you'll probably only need 2 but going up to 4 won't affect the price alot. From there make sure it's got all the basics (everything you're looking for) and then begin picking out the most respectable manufacturers i.e Sony, Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer. They're all pretty good and you know they'll do the job so long as you don't go low end.. £150 worth would do it! If you're not looking for an install as such and just fairly decent equipment, maybe have a look at some low-mid Alpine or high end FLI. Can't go wrong with anything in between really either! Put aside £200 max! I can't really go into subs.. Wayyy too much choice. I get some sh*t from 2X10" JBL powered by 400watt FLI.. I've never gone far wrong with that sort of size. If you do decide to use 2 subs I reccomend hunting around for some slimline casing! Other than that, spend as much on wiring as you can, if that f*cks everything else was a waste of money! Wouldn't say over £100 but try and stay away from halfords wiring kits (for obvious reasons) Hope this helped a bit, any other problems lemme know! (if you're lucky enough to be able to get everything by the same manufacturer within your budget you're definately onto a winner ) Larry
  23. I was just gonna get a set of pro sprints or something similar.. I really liked the euro look, but likes been said, it's too popular (probably for good reason) The point of simple alloys, centre exit and a slight lower was purely to keep it simple! People seem to think i'm trying to create a boy racing machine already Definately open to ideas though.. checked out the readers rides.. don't like car bras, but there's some cool sh*t going on! Would I be right in saying Lupo styling's based more around smart and sporty as opposed to racing sporty? I think i've atleast made the right wheel SIZE choice if anything..?
