  1. Hi Thanks - how much are they? you have a link?
  2. Hi, Been desperately wanting to sort the sidelights after catching a glimpse in a shop window they look horrid compared ot the Xenon dipped beam! Found some philips blue vision side lights i had from another car, but they still look poor! What you guys suggest?? Any pics i want as close to matching as possible with out stupid ones im going to get pulled over for!
  3. Sorry Troopa!! I have ordered everything today!! the part number for the male connector is 1JO973119 - £1.60 not sure on the brakelight its one of two depending on age from 2001 on is the more expensive one i know it ends in a B rather than an A. Two bolts under the rubber gaitors to get the spoiler off 8mm socket - then the three posidrive scres under the black plastic trim in the centre, should just come off. All parts available seperate, but the light is one unit - its not just a bulb, they corrode so bad its shocking!! Any probs let me know!! Pete (Becs other half)
  4. Right after reading lots of posts on here regarding others having a faulty rear light i decided to take off the rear spoiler and get to the light. 10 min job to get it off and the light out of the spolier!! Corroded is an understatement!!! the pins have actually broken off the light connection and are embeded inside the loom connector!!! The fix and cost: New LED brake light unit 02 on i belive are all the more expensive option just short of £30 from VW dealer New Male connector to connect to the loom side im told £1 from VW. I thought i would just make a point of saying this really is not a tough job, so if your centre light is not working its a £30 fix and take you no longer than 30mins. Seriously simple!!!!!
  5. Just checked the guide and its just bolted on, new brakelight from VW and il get the other half to sort it out, he is pretty confident he can do it no problem. I just had another look and there is alot of dirt and muck trapped in their so it looks like its corroded the conection. Will post up once its done!!
  6. Interested to hear peoples thoughts before i go the long rouote of trying to chasethe wiring and test ect!! Noticed when being followed that my centre (spoiler) brake light is completely not working, i have had a quick look and cant even see how the light comes away from the spoiler? Anyone had this problem or have any ideas why it may have stopped working!? Cheers!!
  7. Any pics of the Bastuck or ideally the 3'' Janspeed?
  8. Will machine polish them both and get some better pics in the next couple of weeks!!
  9. lol! im busy You have probably done it fine! give it a dam good polish and wax then look at the result the first time you clay you generally going to spend longer as its all new and your slower!
  10. The spots are the contaminants, but they shouldnt need that much time to get off, always keep the panel well lubricated and make sure you continually fold and re shape the clay so your working with a clean claybar. just do a say 10inch by 10inch section then move on.
  11. Its brilliant but you need to do the whole routine. Clay - removes all the contaminants, if you clean the car then stroke the back of your hand across a panel youll fell it is quite ruff and and drags. By claying you remove this and it leaves you with a sleek surface that is clean!! This then moves you too.... Polish - Now you polish the panel, ideally with a PC (random orbital machine) but if not by hand lol then once you have polished the panels you want to........ Seal/Wax = protect all of the hard work you have just done!! Claying definately worth doing.
  12. Hi, You wont really see any difference when claying, its the later stages when you notice i.e once you have polished and waxed. The clay cleans the paintwork of tar,sap diesel etc etc, then you need to polish then wax it just gives you a flawlessly clean base to polish then protect!! b ut as said shouldnt take longer than say 5mins a panel really, otherwise you may mar the paint and that will mean youll need machine polish to correct. Pete
  13. Yer liking that janspeed - am i right in thinking they also do a 3'' version?? The scorpion oval is quite tidy too.
  14. Weather was ok today so gave both the cars a wash, and decided to get some pics of them up the local industrial estate. Pics are not best quality due to the light fading fast!!
  15. Finally got the Boot handle changed on the GTI and it is looking absolutely faultless now, apart from getting the bathursts done in anthracite, just looking to sort the exhaust! Would be great to see some pics of the options available! im quite drawn to the Janspeed at the mo!! Pete
  16. I was in a silver Evo bud, just as you came up to the VW garage, the Lupos's my other halfs! i only get to use that on special occasions when shes feeling kind lol!
  17. It was a silvery green, looked decent! caught my eye, must have seen me!! lol Pete
  18. Spotted a nice looking Green lupo on ipswich road, was about 17:25 i was on way home from work in the Evo. Looked smart i must say!! Pete
  19. Cheers for all the help! I think the rears are fine afterall so just need fronts! not sure wether to go for the brembos or the full mintex kit! maybe go brembos and PAgid pads!
  20. Right Car has just had a service (Lupo GTI) and the brakes need chaning front and rear! I have got a fairly good price on set of Brembo pads and Discs just standard ones, £131.10 Now are there any reccomendations on disc and pad combinations or am i good to go with these? Also going to the job myself, i have done enough of my own before on saxo'x etc, anyting i need to have special tool wise, i know the rear calipers have to be wound in but a metal plate will do that like the old saxo ones i presume! Look forward to your advice/comments Pete/Becca
  21. Yer i was going to say the dent in the roof is not good! the money it costs to put it right - you may as well buy a decent one to start with that hasnt had the Ars£ ragged off it and dent on every panel! walk away mate!
  22. Right! well ive tried to keep busy after work, its suprising just how long i spdn on one arch. I wont bother posting up pics of the other rear arch as there pretty much the same! I managed to get the two front arch's done and i was pretty happy with the results, again used the same Megs Super Degreaser and it worked a treat, calipers were a toughter job than the rear as you would expect, and the wheels were pretty coked up inside! This is the front Arch before (i had forgot to take the pic so degreaser was on already so looks cleaner than it was) The Caliper: Then after a good scrub i was left with this: Finished the wheel (polished and Sealed with PoorBoys SSR1 & Poorpoys Wheel Sealent nice deep shine! Now the arch's and wheels are all done i am hoping to crack on with the paintowrk with the PC and correct any swirls or marring! Will keep this updated!! Thanks Pete
  23. Not long had the Gti, was detailing the arch's this evening and noticed the side lights look awful in comparrison the the Xenons...... Anyone changed these. and what did you use to get a closer match to the xenons? i dont want Police blue side lights a crisper white or hinted blue would be fine
