  1. With the Stalk you dont need to take the +12v as the stalk uses the normal connections for the indicators and lights so should already have the +12v present hence the you get the block where you just connect to the internal loom. Right removing the steering wheel is easy, BUT removing the Airbag is an Extreamly fiddly job! you have to rotate your steering wheel 90 degress so the two little holes on the back of it are at the top and bottom, next you need to get a screw driver in the hole and push the screw driver in and pull the airbag towards you. i struggling for around 20mins to do this as its EXTREAMLY fiddly! and frustrating, i didnt remove the batt as theres a yellow connector under the steering cowling just unplug this dont worry about the air bag light coming on as you have vagcom. once you remove the airbag get your hand behind and unplug the 2 connections one for horn and the airbag its hard to explain how to get it of just a case of fiddling around with it, maybe if you pop to a "stealer" dealer they might just whip it out for you but once its out make sure you mark where the steering wheel is at present as once you take of its hard to put back on and line up, wot i did was put it all back together without the airbag went for a drive to check alingment once i was happy with the alingment did the 24mm bolt back up and put the airbag back in making sure to push it on with even pressure. Also i got to get mine wired hehe, hopefully the stalk will function correctly! as in the 12v feed and the switch wires ETC but only will be able tell once i test the wiring via vagcom Thanks
  2. i have used both this cable and a proper Ross Tech one, and what i have found that this "copy" cable takes a while to load information up about the vechile while the Ross Tech one is more or less instant. Also these copy cables can not run with can bus, which i dont know if any lupos are canbus system???? but the Ross tech cable is £200 + while the copy is about £20 so the copy is good for your own car but not good for a buisness ETC But i bet you knew that anyhow
  3. The Orignal modder replys at last, Thanks for the comments Mr B at least we managed to get there in the end....... I will finish my wiring of to moz once i have bought some heat shrink and stuff got my wire 2day and some heat proof kopex stuff, going to run it the same way that jon did but instead of coming across the back of the bulkhead i will go left above the brake servo and through in to that pluminum chamber (where the wiper motor sits) and yes i know thats not how to spell it lol. then run the wires to the ecu in the same heat proof plastic stuff this should give a good mechanical protection for the wires also from the elements, will take some pics and get them up providing that the weather holds out for me Again thanks to all especically "Mr B, Cardaft and Jon" Maxiumum Respect! hehe
  4. sure does fit just hope that when i wire the ecu up it will actually work, :S hope it does just need to work out how to turn it on via vagcom
  5. heres a couple of images of my installation of the stalk picture to show how the colours change on the plug you get in the kit heres where i have left the cables while i suss a place to run them through to the ecu
  6. jon you had any luck mate? did you get vagcom to turn it on ?
  7. just wondering i have a tdi lupo and was wondering if the actual lower splitter on the rear of the gti bumper will fit, just had an idea with filling the gap where the exhuast is to make it a little diff as i dont want an exhaust showing but i want the rear style bumper anyone? Thanks
  8. Cardaft, you know that part Num you gave its a "kit" was wondering what you got in the kit?
  9. Thats good then, what year is you tdi as mine a 04 and was hoping that it will be the same as the other thread to wire in but was goin to check any chance of some pictures?
  10. Because they dont, LOL i phoned them hoping to get some "advise" but they were like well its a very hard job that will take a long time because the loom isnt present ETC BLAH BLAH. The Guy i spoke to didnt actually say that he DONT do it but he wasnt saying that he would do mine and came across that they werent sure at all how to do it. Said something like the guy that tried it struggled to much so didnt finish it or something like that. also Why spend the £351.00 + Fuel to travel to Surrey, for them to "maybe" install it without the stalk? surely completeing and installing your self is better i belive that its much better as then i know how the job is done properly also only costs me in parts, fair enough you have to do alot of research which i still have got to do on the ecu part of things but once its done it will be GREAT knowing that i done it my self also cost me a 1/4 of the price as well! in a ideal world where i have not got to worry about the pennies then yes i would pay some one else to do it.
  11. SUCCESS!!!!!! i think i have cracked it took all my indicator stalk of earlier and took a few pics and from i can seem there the same! which is a result. Got to get my ecu code then find out the numbers for the connections! will be ordering the stalk this weekend so should get it over the weekend "hopefully" all functions will be ok on it
  12. just been reading the book i got with the lupo and it says if you hold the key in the Lock or open postion the windows will either roll up or down depending whether your unlocking or locking just thought that was freaking cool means that its easier to have an alarm that rolls up the windows me thinks good old VW
  13. Right, emailed about 10 companies on ebay and a few other places and no one seems to want to help. so tomorrow im goin to take my steering wheel off and just check my self as it seems to be the easiest option at the mo so hopefully will have a couple of pics up 2moz showing wots wots
  14. thougth this was at santa pod? OPPS Gti Festival not vw festival lol
  15. ill be there, but i will be in the Mk2 Golf hopefully set some good times with the NOS install i done..... keep ya eye might try and put a forsale sign in it as well lol
  16. no joy at the mo mate, still waiting on a couple of emails. all need is to compare the stalk connections but etos doesnt show the lupo connections
  17. lol yeah, think i will try and get anohter one before i start cutting it up and stuff. lol
  18. £100 OUCH! some people take the piss, i wanted to try and stick with the oem look i will have to have a closer look into it see if i can mod so it stays and looks oem thanks anyhow
  19. Hi all was wondering is there a stealth shelf avalible for my lupo as i dont want to put a sub in the boot as will use half of the space lol, so want some good 6x9's and want to hide them thanks
  20. Some one on here as actually fitted the cruise control but without the stalk, so would be a case of asking which ports on the ecu do the connections go to i think its only 4 wires, BUT the lupo DOESNT have the loom so will have to add it but this is not a prob as it can be bought from a site that has been posted before...... yes how do we compare without having to strip down the entire col.... maybe i could email a seller on ebay whos currently breaking one hehe see if he could send me the pics, worth a shot i think
  21. Right just whipped the steering cowl of my lupo to take a look at the connections and tbh they seem the same, but i have took a couple of pics although there not brill they "hopefully" will be good enough to compare The difference that i think is there is that the lupo has a two layer connection (smallest) and the van doesnt but, the cruise control might be same as lupo?? just the matter of paying £65 to bring home and try :S then get charged if it doesnt fit lol not a win win situation The next step would be to see if we can compare the normal lupo one to the one you took of your cara, cardaft
  22. Right phoned VW up they said i need to speak to there VAN centre as they cant order these parts in..... so after another call i spoke to a kind gentlemen gave the part number and he come back with a price of £65.01 Including VAT Thats why it didnt show up in my part cat as its a van part so now i need to check the connections on my lupo see if there the same will get some pics later Thanks all
  23. the stalk is from the old mk3 golf, is the caravelle a transporter if so what year so i can check the diagrams of the stalk.. least were getting some where i put the "materialnummer" in and couldnt find anything so i will try and speak to VW
  24. Right hello everyone i know this is an old post but i thought it was more appropiate here, i have been looking into installing cruise control on my Tdi lupo but no one seems to know what stalk to use so ive been looking around etos and done a little picture of the stalks from a golf and a lupo. they look identical apart from the golf one has the hazard warning switch on they have the same mounting ETC, so leads me to belive that the lupos are a modified version of the golf and other vag that use these stalks. my next step is to work out if you can modify the golf one so the hazard switch doesnt effect the wiring etc..... will be goin to scrapp later to see if i can "obtain" one any how heres the pic with part number etc
