  2. What are the chances of me cocking it up and the airbag going off in my face? (I am not a total numpty good with bikes just not experienced with cars)sod it I will order the bit and let you know how it goes
  3. How hard is it to change the stalk? mine has gone a bit stiff and clunky & wipers only seem to have one speed PS plain 1.4 lupo (not sport) year 2000
  4. I used to hate my lupo with a vengeance secretly hoping that someone would steal the horrid little thing.... However after a new clutch and gearbox I love it The clutch is lighter than air (before you had to weight train to use it) and selecting a gear is a pleasure rather than a fight. So I take it all back Lupos rock  He is still known as Larry the lovely person for making me poor
  5. Mine has been doing this for ages, It was suggested to me last night to replace the fuel pump relay.... And I just thought Larry the lovely person had either a good sense of humour or was trying to kill me lol
  6. Thank you James your thread is very helpful as is 99% of the forum

  9. Cars are not really my thing its a way of getting from A-B whild warm & dry.. Give me a modern sports bike and I could fix the bloomin thing myself lol
  10. I dunno its just a plain old 1.4 Lupo
  11. My last car was a £500 Clio and it never gave me a spot of bother till it died... I foolishly thought VW they are well made & never have problems Ha Ha more fool me Do still love the little git though
  12. I have had my Lupo for all of 5 months and in that time I have had to replace. Drivers window motor, pedal box, clutch cable & now my central locking motor has broken added to that a recent cam belt service and the car has cost me as much in repairs as it did to buy.. Please tell me I have had all the bad luck that a lupo can have and from now on it will be ok Should I have bought a Clio???

    Clutch cable??

I have found a VW dealer (Vindis st Ives) who out of five dealers phoned are the only ones to admit that there is a problem with them and are applying to VW for goodwill for me ... All the others denied everything So he goes in on the 17th I have asked for the clutch cable to be changed at the same time I think the clutch plates are ok but to change gear I now have to press to the floor and then some I am looking forward to having a proper Lupo Thanks again Mary x
  14. Wish me luck, my pedal box has just gone on my 2000 1.4s its only done 55 thousand miles so I am hoping they will offer at least some good will Vindis St Ives are applying for goodwill from VW for me..They are fantastic and didn't need any prompting unlike every other VW garage in the Peterborough area who denied any memo or indeed that there was a problem in the first place So Vindis St Ives I salute you

    Clutch cable??

Its a 2000 1.4 (says lupo s on log book) I have phoned 3 close to me one promised to contact VW for me and ring me back (fingers crossed) the others said no problem with them and there has never even been a recall on the polo's (lying rats) so I will travel the extra miles to the helpful VW garage I think its the clutch cable on right hand side of engine which attaches to an arm its got a black top- spring- nuts... Sadly I live on my own and have no bricks or friends so cant be sure its the right bit I am rubbish you can see why I need help Thanks

It has been lumpy since I bought it and last night wouldnt change down without alot of effort.. I will print off the box thing on here and take it along I've only just replaced the motor in the drivers door so am very poor blooming thing has a full VW service history I am just worried what will go wrong next please tell me I have not bought a lemon A scared and poor MG and laughing Larry
  18. Hi All I have had a good search & cant find the answer, are all Lupo's fitted with auto adjust clutch cables? I think my cable has gone or at least I am hoping its that... I phoned VW UK and they told me if its the box thing I will have to pay for it myself car is a 2000 and has only done 55 thousand miles :-( any help is really appreciated Thanks M_G and a poorly Larry Lupo

    New Lupo Owner

Ignore the above I have taken it to the garage should be able to pick it up tomorrow with windows that work
  20. I picked up my 1.4 Lupo last night knowing that the drivers window doesn't work (usual fault from what I can gather) now being unused to car fixing (I usually work on race bikes) is it fairly easy to get the inside door panels off? Just want to make sure it is not the switch before I pay someone to replace the motor in the door, the motor clicks on pressing the buttons both drivers and passengers, however it only puts the passenger window up not down (guessing its not a broken wire) the drivers one clicks but no movement.. Does it sound like the motor has gone? should I not bother with the switches and just get it booked in somewhere? Thank you in advance Mary
