Rub loads on the front? I use 185/45s on the comps and modernlines and don't get a hint of scrubbing. This is how low I was on the comps with my old lupo, and never scrubbed...

Yeah you should be fine. I've ran both sets of wheel and been perfectly ok. As mentioned just run a slightly stretched tyre

If your running 15x7s you should have no problems... I run 15x8s with an et of 25 and don't get a hint of scrubbage, thats with a 185/45 tyre though

Just out of curiosity did you sell yours for under 3.5k then? I'd personally say my cars worth what someone is willing to pay for it... and with low mileage for its age I wouldn't put it up for sale for any less than 5k... which probably boils your blood! lol

There's no-way I'd sell my gti for £3500! They're rare cars mate as you know... some cars hold their value better than others, they hold a premuim for a reason
