  1. Sorry to hear about that dude. Unfortunately if the bus Co claim on the insurance there is no way out of loosing your NCB unless you can prove they were in the wrong. I f'kin hate the bus drivers round here (Brighton), they all drive like total knobs, just pulling out of bus stops even though you are already halfway through going past them, just swinging round corners intead of waiting 1 second for any cars to get out the way first, stopping way too close behind you, wandering across lanes without indicating/waiting for a gap etc. It's not like I only see it occasionaly either. Twunts.
  2. Aaaaah, the sport's have expensive tastes do they I'll stick to the good stuff from now on then. She seemed a little more 'eager' on the premium gear too, that's good to know, cheers Tigz. Niche - is that from low-ish in the revs? 16 valve engines tend to be a bit poop lower in the rev band, mine feels sluggish to respond below about 2800/3000 RPM but is much sportier from there on up to the red bit on the right hand side!
  3. Well, it's been a couple of weeks now so I thought I would report back on the situation. I have now covered however far you can on two tanks of petrol and the dreaded emissions light has stayed off. Both tankfulls have been using 'premium' petrol (V-power or equivalent). I think I will try switching back to 'normal' petrol and see how long it is before the light comes back, run some more 'premium' through her to turn the light off, clean up the lambda sensors, run her on 'normal' petrol again and see if that makes a difference. This experiment may take a little while as I don't drive loads currently but I'll be sure to report back with my findings.
  4. LupoEnvy - yeah, thats the bit. Mine had a film of oily goo in so I sprayed carb-cleaner in there and wiped it all up.
  5. Mine looked like that when I changed it a week or so back. Whilst I had the filter box open I sprayed all round it with carb-cleaner and gave it a good clean out and then done the throttle body as that looked a bit goopy too.
  6. Have a read though this thread... http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?sho...mp;#entry501111
  7. Haha, genius, the dude that 360s and parks in a pallet has done that waaaaay too many times
  8. Clean the throttle body with carb-cleaner (pick up a can from a motorfactors/halfords) and blast away! Borked = playing up
  9. OK, not sure if it is fluke/temporary like when the light went out for the mechanic but I have just filled up on shell V-power, given it a blast 5 mins down the road and the light has gone out - I'll keep an eye on it and see if the V-power has made any sort of difference.
  10. Just thought as well - when I go to whip the airbox off there is a big rivet-type-thing on the top left corner that looks impossible to undo/remove, does anyone know how to undo/remove it? It is just a silver colour flat metal head, about 10mm across with a big tapered rubber washer under it.
  11. OK, more stuff to clean out/check over then! Where might I find the EGR valve and what does it look like? Sorry about the daft questions but I'm used to my old mini engine that only had 5 moving parts I think the plugs and leads are OK but will double check when I get a chance - it seems to drive just fine though, revs all the way to 5K anyway The garage didn't say what fault codes were hanging around and TBH I'm not sure what reader thingy they had there as the guy say 'our code reader can't go in depth and find out exactly whats going on' and then recommended the local bosh dealer/specialist who could?! Some VW specialist they are That would be awsome if you could find out Stealthie, will save me having to ask to take a handfull out to the carpark and give them a try at Halfords
  12. Well the garage couldn't find anything wrong and reset a couple of lingering fault codes and all was going well until the evening when the dreaded light decided it wanted to come back again Does anyone know what size spanner is needed to get the lambda sensors out? I tried last weekend but I haven't got a spanner big enough in my set.
  13. Your car is looking awesome dude! Would it be possible to get some details on how you wired the Ipod dock up as I am thinking of doing the same thing? I assume is has the standard dock connector to USB lead out the back spliced to the power somehow and just a 3.5mm jack lead to the back of the HU??
  14. Loving the T3, I'd have one if I had the money, space to park it etc etc! The Loop' is looking smart too - we need pics of the lowness though
