  1. why are you running 350lb springs??!! bit excessive for road use isnt it?! regarding running 17s on a lupo/arosa - how much research have you done into it? i am also considering fitting 17s to my arosa, but i still want it to be driveable. any idea what offset you need? i know its et37 - 40 for 16" rims, any different for an extra inch? what width rims are you thinking of using? im guessing no wider than 7", especially if youre going to use 165s.
  2. holy ****! rubber band tyres.... literally! people may criticise Nankang, but for innovative tyre sizes (that people actually need these days) no other company comes close!
  3. whoooaaaa! that looks amazing, i even like the paint! do it heartagram, lets bring big wheels back! i was thinking 16s for mine but im getting more and more tempted by big rims.....
  4. oh dear, sounds nasty! ps... what tyres are you running? they look tiny! 165/40/16 ?
  5. ^^ dont know about that, Nicky Campbell can be pretty self-righteous at times... i say bring on Bananaman!
  6. brilliant! cheers guys! judging by the luck i have had so far, i was expecting "yeah, its a fault code job matey, we have to discombobulate your flux capacitor and circumnavigate the generator (which means removing the whole dash) so that will be 16 billion pounds please" or something like that
  7. the oil warning light came on a few days ago (not the actual warning light, i mean the bit next to the mileage reading where it actually reads 'service - oil' or something) took it to my local garage today, had the oil/filter changed, but the warning is still there. will i have to go to a dealer and have the warning light turned off? i hate modern cars
  8. haha! i always flash at other arosa drivers, but round here it tends to be old women who can barely see over the steering wheel, let alone recognise a fellow enthusiast of the 'auto emocion'
  9. looking good my friend! i like these cars, remind me of small mk5 golfs! looking forward to pictures when the wheels are fitted...
  10. i had the work done, pedal box needed modifying. they fixed the original rather than replacing the whole thing, as it saved removing the steering column and saved me a few £££. still had to pay for it though, despite lupo owners getting the same work done for free!

    Arosa Sport

yeah mate, i read all the other comments. they failed to brainwash me, so i thought i could express my own opinion too. apparently not! oops, sorry guys! my way of thinking is destroying the scene! i guess the scene has been devastated by the fact that i dont happen to love an uncomplimentary, pointless bodykit. sorry. i'll pretend to love it, then the scene will be great again! i dont remember offering an alternative route to modifying the car. i definitely didnt mention coilovers or bbs rims, but thanks for providing that option! let me see - superturismo style multi spokes and a plastic bodykit, or slammed on coils with a nice set of bbs. hmm, tough choice. and thats not me being 'scene', thats just my personal opinion. All been seen and heard before and a little dull maybe theres a reason for that mate? this maybe hard to understand for you, but maybe some people dont like bodykits? things progress, we dont live in the early 90s anymore. if you feel that strongly about defending a bit of plastic stuck to someone elses car (!!!) you might want to leave this site and join up with hot-hatchez.com, badboycroozin.com or something similar. why would i want a roof rack and cool box for my mk1 polo? you havent actually seen my car but you feel the need to make comments about it that are totally pointless and incorrect. i have no interest in rat look, roof racks, oil drums, novelty interiors etc, but thanks for your input.

    16`s

there is a thread in this section, im sure someone was asking about fitting 16s recently. im going for 16s on my arosa 1.4 16v, not sure what rims yet. ive seen an arosa on 17s, apparently it took quite a bit of arch work but can be done. that twin engine polish lupo is on 18s, so i guess if your prepared to put the work in, anything is possible. i think the offset has to be around et38 to et40 for 16" rims and bigger.
  13. i know the engine cover isnt really needed, im just thinking when it comes to resale, some people might be picky and wonder why it isnt there.

    Arosa Sport

surely that kit has to knock a couple of grand off the price? seriously, who wants stuff like that these days?
  15. spoke to my local Seat dealer and they dont want to know. "we havent got any record of a recall and we dont think its a common problem". rang Seat customer services - "sorry i'm not technically trained, ill transfer you to your local seat dealer". great, very helpful. ive spoken to dozens of people who have said vw fix this problem free of charge on the lupos as it happens to virtually every single car. the arosa is basically the same car, i cant believe the same policy doesnt apply. bunch of w*nkers
  16. will Seat change this out of good will? im sure ive heard loads of people say that VW fixed pedal boxes on Lupos for free as its a well known weak spot, so im hoping that Seat will do the same as its essentially the same car! *fingers crossed*
  17. are arosa's welcome or is it just loops?
  18. my clutch pedal is sitting considerably lower than the brake pedal, does this suggest that the clutch needs adjusting? gearbox feels f*king awful now, feels like its been round the clock about three times ive got a 27 year old mk1 polo, the box feels smoother in that car! also the biting point seems very low, hardly have to release the clutch at all and it bites. the pedal creaks a little bit when its released - pedal box on its way out? spent nearly 4k on a newish car so i could concentrate on mods rather than maintenance, then all this **** happens
  19. my car is an 02 reg 1.4 16v sport on 30k miles, first gear is occasionally hard to select smoothly, and reverse is a nightmare! almost impossible without making some nasty grinding noises! please dont tell me the box is on its way out, especially at this age and mileage!
  20. heard good reports about both, TA are a great price but ive heard people say that the rears dont go low enough. any problems with FKs? do they go lower than TAs? dont mind spending a bit more for max adjustability...
  21. bought an 02 reg arosa 16v sport a couple of weeks ago, the car hasnt got a plastic engine cover... is it meant to have one? what does it look like? how much are they? cost isnt a problem, the guy at the garage said he would pay for it if i order one from the dealers.
  22. a few pics of my new ride - Seat Arosa 1.4 16v Sport, 02 reg, 30k miles, fsh, metallic black totally standard at the mo, havent got any major plans for this one. just a nice set of coils, wheels, camdridge rear lights, thats it really. oh, and remove the side strips and awful rear spoiler! http://www.flickr.com/photos/12261270@N04/
  23. "I'm not into upgrading cars or anything like that, I'm afraid, just a "square" looking for a cheap car that would be cheap to run." ive heard that one before! give it a few months (especially after spending time on forums like this one) and your Fox will be wearing BBS splits, flared arches, coils, leather trim, smooth bodywork.... trust me! ps - welcome by the way!
  24. cheers guys, ideally i am looking for a lupo tailgate (different shape rear window - non-wrap around glass panel) without any spoiler... but if the standard one is bonded on, hopefully i can just remove it without too much grief! cheers.
  25. cheers dude, no i do not like that spoiler! how is it attached? easy to remove? im guessing it leaves holes i just want a nice plain spoiler-less tailgate. guess i would have to smooth the vw badge, although it might be fun to be a lupo from behind and an arosa from the front!
