At the moment the issue has gone, so am even more confused, the system did have a partial bleed when the slave cylinder was changed

Thanks

Both changed, problem persists, ???

Problem is and was a soft pedal and excessive travel, changed slave and master cylinder with new ones but the problem persists. after a while the pedal firms up,😣😄 after a quarter of an hour or so, I'm mystified as the clutch isn't slipping or dragging and the gear change is as good as it was after the box was rebuilt 3 years ago. Any ideas out there?

Hi Rab, my Lupo is converted to manual... I wouldn't need a different ecu... Is it possible to do an easy swap?
I wouldn't do it, in fact if I could I'd revert to manual steering if I could, with the 1 litre car it's not worth having at all because the motor is so light

be very careful ordering from ECP, they are only offering LHD items, need to look elsewhere

nice colour

I can't open the pictures, I'm using windows 10, any ideas?

Hi.
I would strongly recommend you notify your insurer of any changes even if they are minor cosmetic just to be on the safe side.
Thanks.
Daniel.
Good advice, insurance companies split hairs, employ shysters and will do anything to initially delay then avoid payment altogether

the 1.4 tdi will get a lot more at a steady speed on the motorway than it does around town but even around town 55-60 is easy

I kept my Mk 2 GTI for 15 years, it was an early car 1984, but even when I scrapped it, the rear door was still oozing waxoyl. Much modified, it ended up with a 16v engine, 16v brakes and a fully polybushed chassis, compared to the MK 1 Golf these cars are a revelation.

Snap, slave cylinder changed to no affect, now the more difficult master cylinder

The Lupo/Arosa TDi is Euro 3 but the identical engine in a 2007 Polo 1.4 TDi is Euro 4 compliant, I'd guess our cars are probably Euro 4 but we're never tested to that standard at the time they were assessed. So innately cleaner than the smelly SDi.

I've had 3, currently have two, both over 170,000 miles, no issues other than brakes, tyres & reasonable wear and tear. Needed gearbox rebuild on my Arosa at 140k, & now a slave cylinder. Remapped the Arosa so I'm keeping it.
I had a 1.7sdi for a short while too, wasn't impressed, slow and poor brakes, quite smelly too, pollution wise. I'd chose the TDi over the 100 bhp petrol model too, on these only the brakes are better

2 litre in a MK2 Golf with K-jet is unusual, factory they were 1781cc 8V & 16v

better than a clutch. thanks
-
clutch travel seems to be growing and today needed to be flicked back up with my foot, still light and gear change easy, master cylinder or slave?
-
mine claim a drop of 40mm, which might be right, as my car is very marginally lower than my wife's Lupo Sport, make sure you get the tracking done afterwards
-
Agree far too low

how much are they, I bought a set of lowering springs for my Arosa TDI fairly recently and am very happy with them, now showing at £68, I paid much less at £54 so there may be haggle room
they sell for other models too not just the TDI

Fixed that for you Rich!
It’s a lot of effort for an engine with limited tuning, but it would be torquey.... there was a caged 2.1 litre 8v on gumtree recently that makes more sense to me
me too, massive understeer with a lump like that...why
